Role of Pakistan in Afghan Wars

In my opinion Pakistan is the major offender which has been imposing war over Afghans. Infact I do not consider indigenous Afghan Taliban as responsible for the war in Afghanistan as their Shura had decided to get rid of OBL who was the main excuse for US war against Taliban/Al-Qaida/Afghanistan but ISI intervened and convinced Taliban to retain OBL. ISI want to keep Afghans in the state of war hence keeping Afghanistan dependent upon Pakistan while keeping Pakistan away from US agony and war by presenting the Taliban and Al-Qaida factor as a threat to peace. There is no doubt that ISI-backed Taliban [if not Al-Qaida] was also ISI's brainchild nurtured to keep Afghanistan in the state of war for ever.

I also consider that the Afghan war of 1978 was imposed by Pakistan over Afghans. General Ziaulhaq used religion for the war as Musharraf used his so called enlightened moderation in 2001 onwards. General Zia wanted to legitimize his autocratic regime by becoming a tool for the US against USSR using Afghans. He accumulated wealth for himself as well as the generals of his army and used both Afghans in Afghanistan and Pashtuns in Pakistan for his purpose. ISI recruited, facilitated and trained Jihadis in Peshawar and sent them to Afghanistan while CIA funded the war.

Musharraf also used exactly the same technique in a symmetrical form. He also legitimized his dictatorial regime using US war on Terror. He also accumulated wealth. He also ruined Pakhtunland in Pakistan and Afghanistan to safeguard Pakistan's interests of installing a puppet theocratic regime. He used Mullah Omar exactly as Zia used Gulbadin and others Jihadis of his times.

The Communist regime in Afghanistan made the mistake of introducing reforms suddenly for the transition of Afghan society to modern one ignoring the principles of evolution. Afghans need to understand just one point about Pakistan’s strategy. ISI and Army are not in favor of a stable and sovereign Afghanistan and they want to use it against India while the civilian govt of Pakistan don’t agree with military over their strategic depth policy but the civilian govt can’t do much as the real power in Pakistan rests in the hands of Army. The policy of Pakistan towards Afghanistan has badly affected Pakistan too and even her survival is in doldrums.

War has harmed Afghans across the Durand line and even Pakistan. If religious guys have a better solution for the progress and prosperity of Afghanistan then they should come into power via popular mandate and prove it. In my opinion, however, Afghan religious leadership has nothing to offer to better governance and I am sure even their perception of religion is also primitive and tribalistic which does not conform to the modern pre requisites of running a state. That is why Pakistan does not want Taliban for their own country they only recommend them for Afghanistan.

In my opinion the communist strategy which dealt with either Russians or the resistance forces of ISI-CIA backed mujahedeen was mistaken. It was cold war era and a bipolar world so the communist regime in Kabul was supposed to seek help just on non-military, diplomatic and technological fronts from Russia. Invitation to Russian troops was not wise. War causes casualties. Pakistani forces killed approximately 3 million Bengalis just because they wanted to get freedom from Punjabi establishment. Anyway I do not support killing or massacres in any case.

Afghans should not accept any forced ideologies whether it was communism of PDPA or the Taliban version of Islam. However it seems that the Pakistan establishment like Taliban version of Islam to be imposed and want the Afghans to live in medieval ages and ignore the progress made since then by humanity at large.

I don’t know why Afghans are against secularism. First of all democracy and secularism are the products of an Industrial society and hence third world countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan need to do a lot of homework to qualify for these systems. Pakistan is agrarian and Afghanistan is tribal society. A lot of spadework has to be done before these countries deploy secularism and democracy. In secularism, state and clergy are egregated from each other. You can be a shia or sunni or wahabi or hindu or Christian etc and practice your religion freely. We should not stigmatize concepts without knowing their practical utility in statecraft.

Pakistan has a lot of HR potential which has been wrongly used by the exploiters of the military elite for their purposes. Whether Pakistan is strong or not it is stronger than Afghanistan in many aspects and this is the bitter pill you need to swallow in case you want to progress without falling prey to any inferiority complex. Pakistan foreign policy towards Afghanistan is controlled by military and is critcised by analysts both in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan.

In case of nation states it is always the national interest which rules not any ideology. Even Stalin ultimately realized this fact and presented a national version of socialism to USSR. A state should always have an intrinsic strength to stand upon her feet and should not look onto others for her survival, functioning or working. Applying this concept on today’s Muslim world, it will be foolish for any Muslim country to think that other Muslim countries are there to run the state for them or to help them. The ineffective status of OIC and the delusional concept of Muslima Umma are useless in political sense. A simple example is that Saudi wants to use your land [Afghanistan] for their ideological indoctrination and also want to fight their wars against Shias or others calling you brother but when you go there for Hajj you need visa and all other pre requisites which any foreigner non Muslim would need. In that case they forget that you are Muslim brother and neither needs visa or any other restriction to get into an Islamic country. Infact some western countries like US and UK don’t need visa and they can just walk in while you have to go through a lot of humiliation of the typical rude Bedouin mentality in case you want to perform an Islamic obligation like pilgrimage.

Analysis of post NATO scenario in Afghanistan

Afghanistan has always been used as a chess ground for Int'l and neighboring powers and Afghans/Pashtuns have always been used as cannon fodders by imperialist powers to safeguard their national interests. Greeks, Mongols, Mughal, British and now Punjabis have used their might to strengthen their empires. Pakistan used Afghans and Afghanistan to safeguard her integrity and milk US by propagating the false propagandas of Jihad against occupiers and fight in the name of Islam as well as homeland hence helped US to be the leader of a unipolar world.

PDPA and Dr Najib, whatever ideology they believed in, were helping Afghanistan to become a developed state and that is why they were hated by Pakistani establishment. The mistake which they did was to overestimate the socio-political evolution of Afghans and their attempt to jump from a less evolved social level to a more evolved political structure directly bypassing the intermediate stages and neglecting the religious inclinations and tribal affiliations of the people.

My analysis of US/NATO presence mandated by UN [real or fake] is as follows:

US or any other westren country never had any intentions of occupying Afghanistan as it has nothing other than strategic geo-political status. Their interest has always been to safeguard their regional interests and help secure their countries against the threats of religeous extremists elements.

The second interest of NATO countries in Afghanistan is to curb extremism and terrorism in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistanis do not like the same Quran and Sunnat, for their own country but love to help all those factions and groups in Afghanistan who were used to make the world unipolar and have their foolish and out of date interpretation of Islam for the Afghans to drag them back into the medieval ages. This is the dichotomy of the Pakistan establishment.

Their third interest is the selling of arms by catalyzing intra-tribal and sectarian differences in the third world countries. It is well known that US corporations have monetary interests in such wars and operations.

Their fourth interest is to check the movement and advancement of China to access the trade route to Arabia Gulf wherein Pakistan comes to picture again.

Hence the first world is not interested in occupying Afghanistan contrary to Gulf and North African states which they want to colonise economically by taking control of their oil resources.

Unfortunately being far from political realities, the zealouts and propagandists consider the presence of US or NATO in failed states like Afghanistan or Pakistan etc as intervention and the completion of their mission as retreat. This can help motivate juvenile minds but is far from mature political realities prevalent in the world.

I agree we should resist any occupation and imperialist design and that is why I urge upon Afghans not to get deceived by labels like Muslim brother countries like Pakistan or O.I.C or Arabs etc as states are run by national interests based on pragmatic realities and not by utopian philosophies.

With the withdrawal of ISAF/NATO forces, the following are likely to happen:

1) A civil war in Afghanistan between tribes and factions in which Taliban would be backed by Pakistan and others by other countries.

2) An active interest of neighboring countries like Pakistan, Iran and India in Afghanistan.

3) Another surge of migration and hence a loss of lives and property and a second rate citizenship in another country without dignity and respect.

4) Afghanistan becoming a chessground for the int’l powers again.

The US or any other western state is not the enemy of Afghanistan atleast they have a mandate [real of fake] from UN to be in Afghanistan. They are non Muslims hence their status is known to Afghans [meaning in case they cross their mandate and try to become occupiers then Afghans can easily fight them].

Unlike the foolish conceptions of freedom and sovereignty which third world countries are suffering from [that is: claiming sovereignty and freedom without economic independence], the first world countries have other interests, like curbing extremist and terrorist elements in Pakistan from spreading all over, selling their weapons by encashing intra-tribal enmities or sectarian differences or having a check on China for using the trade route to the Arabian gulf etc.

It is Pakistan which pretends to be Muslim neighbor country but is the real enemy of fellow muslim Afghans/Pashtuns. The enmity of Pakistan towards Afghans is clear from her ethnic cleansing policy towards Pashtuns in Pakistan [by labeling them as terrorists] and GHQ's policy of keeping Afghanistan unstable to keep her dependent on Pakistan.

As I said earlier, the concept of freedom of third world countries is fake. When you have no industry, no manufacturing, no human resource, no infra structure, no logistics and no other pre requisites for economic independence how can you even think of political sovereignty and freedom. Political freedom without economic independence is a mirage.

It is therefore suggested that after the completion of US/NATO mission, Afghans should continue the democratic process and even ask Taliban to form a political faction/party and let Afghans elect those whom they like. With continuous electioneering process, when all those who want to represent Afghans have to go back to the masses to ask for vote, those who are foreign proxies or concocted parties working for their vested interests will be slowly eliminated.

Presidential form of govt should be adopted so that a person is free to realise his agenda with the help of his party and does not have to get much involved in the dirty power politics. Whatever institutions have been developed in the last decade should be strengthened based on the principle of "right man for the right job".

Defence should be given top importance. Afghanistan should have a political and military immunity to survive and progress.

Justice and education should be the other priorities in the list. Justice is a pre requisite for survival while education which gives birth to a techno-creative culture is the means to progress and prosperity.

The principle of " Al-aqrab fal-aqrab" [First comes first] says that it is obligatory for the Afghans to defend their land first against all hegemonial powers be they muslim or non muslim. There is no need to worry about the rest of the world when your own homeland is a playground for the big game played even by Muslim autocratic and theocratic states that are ever ready to invest in Afghanistan to safeguard their political interests.

The principle of "wa ayyiddo lahum mas tata'a min quwa'a" [Prepare yourself for your enemy] dictates that Afghans should equip themselves with latest technology for which they have to study pure and applied sciences.

Quran says that " Inna katheran min ahbarun wa ruhbanun la yakuloon amwaal nas bil batil" [Most among the clergy are exploiters], hence Afghans should never look upto religious clergy to solve their national or collective issues but towards honest and competent persons with a broad vision for the country as well as for the region.

Last but not least if Afghans are not able to contribute something positive to humanity then Afghans should start the countdown for their downfall and demise.

This is a model which I have developed for the Municipal services of any city of a third world /under-developed/developing country.
I wish we could implement it in Afghanistan or Pakhtunkhwa as a tool for cultural engineering or urbanisation.

Rokhan Municipal Model

Goals:
To provide quality assured services for the formation, maintenance and improvement of a tidy, aesthetic and hygienic environment in the area of jurisdiction with the provision of consumable and drinking water under an automated system of revenue generation.

The Model:
The model is a cyclic model in which the output of each step is the input of the next one. The working logic of the model is that if the municipality offers its services successfully for the achievements of the goals as per centralized monitoring system then more revenue will be generated which will in turn improve the quality of the services and hence more revenue generation.

1- QA services for the achievement of goals
2- Centralized quality assured monitoring of services
3- Automated system of revenue generation

Modus Operandi:
The following steps should be taken to form, maintain and improve a tidy, aesthetic and hygienic environment:

The municipality staff should be given blue collar dress code as per international standards along with mouth cover / filter [like traffic police] to ensure health standards from pollution. Each staff member should have a code instead of name so that the same dress can be re-used if needed. The staff should have an identity card or scratch card or distinguished dress code to be distinguished from outside as well as to be identified internally in the department. The man hours/ working hours should be monitored by GPS while work should be ensured by the daily target or work load given to the staff member. This monitoring should be done centrally. Each staff member should be under the supervision of a supervisor who should be responsible for anything related to municipal issues in that area. Latest technology should be used to keep the sewerage systems working along with an emergency plan for rains, small disasters, emergencies etc.

Each house/business should be encouraged to use a paper bag [recyclable] to submit their wastes to the staff member of the municipality. Each house/business should be charged a minimum fee with receipt given to the house owner for the service and in return should be rewarded based on some draw to encourage practicing healthy waste practices. If possible the municipality should provide the waste bags to the consumers on demand by charging the price. The waste should be used using waste management technology and recycled products should be sold to the market to earn revenue.

There should be specific places for religious events like sacrifices of animals in Muslims etc. It is better that people should submit their animals to be slaughtered to specific slaughter houses and the meat should be given back to them in a finished product form. It will flourish slaughtering/meat industry and hence source of income for the govt and the private butcheries will not monopolize the market without giving quality service.

The municipality should also provide clean drinking water on demand on a nominal fee in areas where there is scarcity of water. It will give alternative to the consumers and they will not buy expensive multinational products and would rather get quality product [drinking water] in much affordable and cheaper rates. It will be wise to use distillation and filtration plants at municipal level. This will again be a source of revenue.

The municipality should also provide gardening services to anyone who seeks to implant greenery in the house inside or outside. It will encourage nursery and gardening industry at small and medium level enterprise creating a job market and source of revenue.

The municipality should also provide consultancy and minor construction services for small allowed modifications / repair / maintenance in house and other places. This again will be a great source of revenue and a job market for the unemployed skilled/ labour class who struggle to find work on daily wage basis. The services should atleast include cement work, paint work, wood work, exterior decoration, masonry etc. The services should be available on call and charge by time basis.

Demographically less concentrated areas should be converted to town and housing societies to improve the living standards as well as organize and systemize the lifestyle in the jurisdiction of the municipality. These housing societies, townships and housing scheme should be surrounded by walls so that new towns can be constructed and the expansion is in a scientific and organized manner.

The sign boards should be in English and local language to facilitate tourism as well as local population. There should be optimistic, motivational and inspirational signs with tributes to the historic events, personalities, achievements in the form of small structures, engrossed verses , pillars, towers etc to give aesthetic touch to the design and layout of the towns in the jurisdiction of the municipality.

No encroachments of any type should be allowed and not an inch of space more than the allocated space should be granted for any business or construction. There should be set and defined standards for the sign boards of businesses as well as mobile businesses [hawkers etc] which are a source of encroachments and discomfort for the citizens.

There should be a QA team to make sure that all the areas in the jurisdiction are upto the benchmarks set by the municipality. However there should be another Counter QA team which should quality assure the performance of the QA team. The very justification of the Counter QA team should be to criticize the performance of QA team and find drawbacks and limitations in their performance.

The litmus test for the proper working of this model is the continuous improvement in the external and visible living standards of the inhabitants in the jurisdiction of the municipality.

Who are the enemies of Pashtuns?

Yes there are and have been traitors amongst Pashtuns and if there were none why would we be suffering but which nation did not have traitors. Traitors are common in all nations. They are sick minds and souls who lack the sense of collective national consciousness and are driven by their egoistic interests. Yes Pashtun nation has made historical mistakes in the past but all nations do make mistakes. This is nothing specific to Pashtuns. Yes we have been tempted by the color of dollars but which nation was not inclined to worldly gains. The space created by the absence of a higher ideal gets filled by such individualistic gains. Yes Pashtun have been used as cannon fodders by other nations starting from Greeks to Punjabis in the recent times but such is the dictation of philosophy of history. You either lead or follow. If you do not have the guts to lead then you will have to follow.

In my opinion, however, all those points which are raised by intellectuals do not pin point to the real enemy of Pashtuns. On the contrary , they generalise the results of an introspective and esoteric self scrutiny on individual level. Pashtuns are not fortunate enough to enjoy the luxury of searching for the signs and symptoms of the enemy within as they have visible and tangible enemies ready to use them as guinea pigs for their vested interests in the real world. As Ahmed shah baba said:

Pukhtana de tola lass sara yaw kandi

Che mo nun ghaza her loree sha aw khwa da

Subjectivity of animosity, in my opinion, is a Machiavellian technique of confusing your subjects. Enemy has to be objectified in the real world to move forward. Any nation which is not clear about her enemy is supposed to face the music of its delusion in the form of stagnation. Such is the dictation of history.

It is useless to pin point your enemy if you are disunited. Now as far as I understand nations can be united by three ways:

1) When they face survival problem from nature/surroundings/other nations.
2) When they have a common enemy [who in turn is against their survival].
3) When they have a higher altruistic goal to achieve [this in turn guarantees their survival].

The problem with Pashtuns is that the invisible or indirect occupation of their land deceives them to pin point their occupier [enemy] and secondly the fact that they do not have any wish or desire to rise to the skies of excellence and achieve a respectable and glorified status among the league of other nations makes them unfit for unification and hence defeating the enemy. There is no other way for a nation to survive or to identify her enemy or to achieve glorified status unless and until the nation goes through this process of collective consciousness.

It is therefore concluded that we need to win our sovereignty in “lar aw bar” in the true sense of the word. We need to understand that whether it is Americans or Punjabis, Muslims or non Muslims, if they occupy our present or historic land or resources, directly or indirectly, they are our enemies. We need to strive for a sovereign, developed , tolerant , progressive Afghanistan comprising of its lost historical territories now under Pakistan and at the same time contribute our part to the progress and prosperity of humanity at large while keeping intact our history, culture and values.

Analysis - Miseries of Pakhtuns in Karachi

It is a wrong diagnosis to blame Politics as the sole cause of unrest in Karachi. A mentality which is the product of cold war and military rule would glamorize and glorify army as the panacea for all the ills of Pakistani society. MQM - a product of military regime , was created by the military dictator General Zia to counteract the popular support of People’s Party which was the brain child of
his political rival Bhutto who for the first time gave a voice to the common masses of Pakistan. Zia's dictatorship reinforced the dangerous trend of army to take over the reigns of power due to being the defacto ruling junta of Pakistan.

Politics is the only means to resolve the causes of unrest in Karachi. Being a product of military mind, the interests of MQM are in conflict with Pashtuns who believe in being treated on egalitarian basis despite their poverty and low social status. The conflict of interest is due to better education and skills of the demographically strong Mahajirs vis-a-vis literally illiterate Pakhtun masses. Illiteracy in Pakhtuns is due to a low social profile, which is due to poverty, which in turn is due to mass exodus of Pakhtuns from their own homeland. The reason of their exodus to Karachi is the lack of opportunities in their land - Pakhtunkhwa. The lack of opportunities is due to the lack of industrial base and institutionalisation. The lack of industrial base in turn is due to the indifference of state towards Pakhtuns affairs in the form of Punjab centered and anti Pakhtuns Policies of the ruling elite.

It is thereofre concluded that when Pakhtuns win real freedom and autonomy over their land and resources, the cycle of miseries will reverse for them and Pakhtuns will see the revival of their lost glory.

Causes of Educational Degradation

Refusal to Organic Nature of Knowledge

Knowledge is like an organic whole it can not be divided into various compartments.Departmentalisation of knowledge stops the evolution of knowledge. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Politics, Economics, Trade, Commerce and Industry are so much interdependent that it is difficult to bifurcate one from another. Based on this logical premises knowledge can not be classified into spiritual and material sciences. The basis of all spiritual sciences is matter and vice versa. Knowledge does not have any caste or creed.

Absence of Knowledge Industry

The Education policy of Pakistan does not treat Education as an Industry contrary to that of the developed countries. Our education system just use lecture method while western countries are using audio visual aids, models, charts, computer, videos, museum and tourism as the tools for education which gives depth to the students as well as teachers. Consequently only memorization is used to clear exams instead of an insight of the subject.

Black market of Knowledge

Knowledge gives birth to Industry and industry produces commercialism creates competition and brings more investment into the market due to which both knowledge as well as subject specialists get benefited. In Pakistan contrary to this fact there is a black market of knowledge due to which education department is bribed to get marks, fake certificates are fabricated and sold on demand. On top of that lack of merit in jobs and promotion is catalyzing the black-market which results in the corruption of institutions.

Indifference to Creativity

The Education policy of Pakistan lacks the dynamic relationship between the innovations of technology and market. In the current era market can only be captured by the innovations of technology. Cost effective and productive technology is the key to market success now a days. Education policy in Pakistan is not paying serious heed to teach and impart training of new ways and means of technology and is insisting on the subject matter which is out there in abundance hence saturating the market.

Unscientific means of knowledge discovery

The Education system of Pakistan does not encourage utilizing scientific methodology for knowledge discovery known as epistemology. Epistemology has evolved from the discovery of principle of cause and effect by Greek philosopher Pynadeas, the discovery of the science of logic by Aristotle, Law of Action and Reaction by Newton, Dialectical method by German philosopher Hegal, theory of evolution by Darwin etc.Unless our education policy adopts scientific methods for the discovery of knowledge it will not be able to inspire the urge of discovering knowledge to the students.

Obsolete Syllabus and Dictatorial Educational Policies

Due to absence democracy, totalitarian control of military regimes and lack of institutionalization in Pakistan, the syllabi of subjects which are being taught to the students have never been scrutinized critically with professional honesty. On the other hand, education has always been used as a tool by the establishment of Pakistan to indoctrinate the masses to produce a pseudo educated qualified class who are able to continue their policies of suppressing the masses. Additionally our education system has also been producing a nursery of the advocates of the current system to serve the vested interests of the elite exploitative classes. The blame for the fall of education is distributed among student, teacher and educational institute neglecting the syllabus. The analysts are disillusioned about the downfall of educational system. In summary it is the absence of democracy and hence the lack of research discipline which results in fruitless education policies whose product is an educational system based on the remnants of colonial legacy instead of scientific concept of pluralistic approach towards knowledge.

Feudal culture, Social institutions and Technological innovation

The people who have vested interests in the promotion of culture first try to create romanticism in it and then draw their intuition from that romance. The majority of common masses being not well acquainted with the dynamics of culture fall prey to the trap of these exploiters.

Culture has a deep relationship with social institutions. Social institution is an organization of people formed to achieve a certain goal. As we move backwards in history, the number of institutions decrease till we reach a point where the only available institution was that of hunting which neither needed any police or state nor any jails or government. Every person was free to execute justice and everyone had law of one’s own. If we study culture in the medieval ages we find out that the culture was based on feudal and royal interactions. There were separate laws for the conquerors and the conquered. Human rights for slave girls and cancubines were different from those of elite women. It was not considered against the sanctity of human dignity to consider the daughters, mothers and sisters of the conquered nation as cancubines and slave girls. Considering minority of other tribes as second-class citizens was a pre requisite for the tribal glory of the majority. Patience and perseverance were made to be considered as virtues in such culture of loot and plunder.

Social institutions are formed first and laws for these institutions are made later. If we try to befit contemporary institutions - which are the product of scientific thought, into the frame of medieval institutions and follow the same laws as that of medieval institutions then we would also have to go back to the same medieval age. In such case, again, the society would become feudalized and tribal prejudice would become inevitable. Duality would appear in the human rights. The Common and collective interests would get divided into those of families, tribes, races, groups and sects. This division would weaken our control over the forces of evolution which would result in the non-institutionalization of society while it is a fact that the progress of a society is measured by the number and strength of its social institutions.

In order to institutionalize our society we need to get rid of those obstacles which are impeding our collective progress and social evolution. The prevalent culture in most of the third world countries is agrarian or feudal culture. Two forces are responsible for putting an end to the feudal culture. The first is the force of social organization and the second is the force of technological innovation.

It was the force of social organization which played a pivotal role in the French revolution when the old concepts of human rights were replaced by the new ones. The new concepts of human rights gave birth to new institutions which in turn mobilized the masses to challenge the injustice and hegemony of the old institutions of kingship and monarchy. This triggered a movement which got transformed into a democratic revolution and replaced monarchy with democracy.

The second agency which challenged the reigns of feudal culture was the invention of steam engine which shifted the balance of power from the monarchs and kings to the common masses. Steam engine was first invented in Britain. The industrial revolution which followed changed the production and ownership relationship. Manufacturing and trade consciousness became the talk of the town in Britain. The country was transformed into a workshop of innovation. The industrial revolution changed the culture, the traditions and the superstitions of the masses. Military war became the last resort for the military forces. It was preceded by war of diplomacy, psychological warfare and trade war. The power of the machine amplified the human might indefinitely. The élan vital of industrial, financial, trade and military institutions converted the man power of Britain into a powerful bomb. Participation of common man in the production process polarized the society and trade unions came into existence to safeguard their rights. Trade culture acted as a trigger to evolve commercialism. New weapons were invented for the security forces. Industrial and trade culture became more productive and created more capital than agri- culture and feudal culture.

Britain became an imperialist power due to her financial discipline, industrial culture and trading power. The argument that Britain became an imperial power by buying the loyalties of the treacherous persons in the conquered nations is absolutely wrong. The biggest treachery was committed by the feudal productive institutions of the conquered lands. When these countries became the markets for Britain, their feudal means of production proved to be weak and of no comparison vis-à-vis the British mechanical system of manufacturing.

It is therefore concluded that by using the forces of social organization and technological innovation a nation can change hers destiny from a weak and poor nation to a respectable and powerful nation. Keeping this in view, it is difficult to argue scientifically that with a tribal and agrarian culture and lack of institutions and technological innovations, the third world countries will ever become sovereign countries and will never be used as a playground for powerful countries or their mercenaries to play their political chess in the name of religion or culture.

Pashtun - Mahajir Peace Alliance in Karachi

The Karachi issue is a deep wound in the body politic of Pakistan and if not healed might become a cancer. This issue has the potential of becoming a cause for the ultimate demise of Pakistan which is already on the verge of collapse. The Karachi issue has political dimension which is ethnic in nature too in addition to being fundamentally a politico-economic issue.

It is proposed therefore that the Mahajir and Pashtun communities should get into an alliance both at political as well as socio-economic levels for the restoration of perpetual peace and progress in Karachi. Following are the points which might ring the bells in the minds of those who are the decision makers in both the communities and their representative political parties.

1. The intelligentsia of both these ethnicities and their representative parties should realize that in the bigger picture both the ethnicities in their separate capacities have no or less importance by virtue of belonging to a third world country and a nearly failed state so their alliance is what is in the interest of both.

2. Both the ethnicities have already left their original abodes for a better life with no or rare intention to return back. Whether Karachi becomes a separate city state or continues to be the backbone of Pakistanâ€™s economy, neither could the five million Pashtuns go back to Pakhtunkhwa due to lack of opportunities nor could the ten million Mahajirs afford to go back to India which they have left for good due to the political situation prevalent at that time.

3. The only thing which both the communities can do is to share a mutual economic interest for a better life by exploiting each otherâ€™s potential.

4. Both can get close to each other by having joint business ventures in areas of their strength.

5. On the political level, Pakhtuns as well as Mahajirs have been victims of anti popular policies of Pakistani establishment in the name of operations both in Karachi as well as in Pakhtunkhwa.

6. Both the parties have been fighting for their rights for a reasonably long time and have points of intersections in their struggle like provincial autonomy, anti-Kalabagh struggle, anti- terrorism stance, belief in the segregation of state and religion etc.

7. Both have been flaying extremism and have been victims of Taliban contrary to military establishmentâ€™s policy of demonizing Taliban in Pakistan but helping their anti state and terrorist activities in Afghanistan.

8. Both started their struggle for their communities and are slowly entering Pakistani national level politics for which a basic pre requisite is to recognize and show tolerance towards other ethnic communities, cultures, languages and groups living in Pakistan.

9. Both ethnicities and their respective political parties can achieve their political goals in the national politics by binding themselves in an alliance to become a power to reckon with in national politics.

10. The hegemony of civil and military elite of Pakistani state majority of which belongs to Punjab makes it compulsory for both the ethnicities and their representative political parties to enter into the proposed alliance.

11. The dangerous and extremist thoughts and ideologies supported and propagated by the Pakistani state will also ultimately compel both these communities to think for their much required alliance.

12. Pashtuns are followers of towering historical personalities like Bacha Khan and Samad Khan Achakzai while the Mahajirs belong to the land of father of non violence - Gandhi and champion of constitutional struggle â€“ M.A.Jinnah. All of these political leaders believed in peaceful and constitutional struggle instead of violence.

The violence in Karachi is not in the interest of anyone. The innocent and the poor from both the sides are used for the interest of others and that too by the conscious decisions of their leaders but the real executor and benefiter is behind the veil and gets direct benefit from the mutual antagonism between these two communities and their representative parties.

Tribal Affiliation - Source of leadership in Afghans

With increasing state antagonism against Pashtuns in Pakistan and increasing international challenges for their future in Afghanistan, it is suggested that Afghans should reinstate their tribal leadership institution to get the right people with leadership skills to lead the whole nation in future.

We observe that when the process of selection/election of Afghan leadership was given due respect and meritocracy was considered as a benchmark for the emergence of Afghan leadership then leaders like Ahmed Shah baba emerged out of that process. On the contrary the same empire founded by Ahmed Shah Baba demised when the process was either neglected or bypassed and a hereditary process was adopted to run the Afghan affairs.

In my opinion Afghans / Pashtuns should revive their tribal structure considering the progress in human socio-political institutions to evolve a beautiful amalgam of the rich Afghan tradition and modern norms so that they stand out as a distinguished nation in the fraternity of nations.

The following is a sketch for how the idea, if found reasonable, feasible and useful by Pashtuns, could be realized:

1) Each tribe should elect/select their chief or leader. The chief should be physically and mentally fit, person with integrity and character, aware about Pashtun history, vocal , strong communicator, orator , wise , mature , charismatic, creative, person of letters, social , extrovert, tolerant towards various faiths , politically opinionated about the helm of Pashtun affairs in socio-politico-economic spheres, friendly, sympathetic and responsive towards the collective concerns of his tribe, insightful, visionary and a person ready to accept and handle challenges.

2) The election procedure could involve election at district level, for example, and then at a higher level to take care of all areas which has a majority population of that tribe. For example the chief of Khattak tribe could be elected from Karak, Lachi, Kohat and Nokhar districts in second round of election due to majority Khattak population once the first round of election in each of these districts has taken place.

3) The physical presence of the candidates in their respective mainland should be obligatory unless his presence abroad does not stop the Chief from completing the duties assigned to him.

4) The election / selection of the Tribal Chief should take place in a ceremony for every tribe this ceremony should be included in the Pashtun customs formally. The Tribal Chief himself or his appointee could take part in the election within both current Afghanistan and Pakistan. However the Chief of all tribal chief who should be considered a defacto leader of the afghan nation should not participate in the election process in Pakistan to remain acceptable to all. However the defacto power he would have in the form of confidence of all tribal chiefs should be considered more precious.

5) A Jirga of non-candidate males and females, who are wise, competent, and credible, could modify the list of pre requisites for the Chief if required with a consensus and announce the tribal chief.

6) Once the tribal chiefs are elected /selected then there should be an election/selection for the leader of all those Afghan tribes together and this institution would serve as a nursery for the tribal as well as Pashtun national leadership in future keeping the national traditions of Pakhtu and Pakhtunwali alive among all the Afghans.

The revival ,organization and strengthening of this leadership institution would ensure that Pashtuns would never become an orphan nation which could be politically manipulated, economically exploited and socially humiliated due to absence of someone who could raise a voice for their rights.

Progress and Religion in Afghanistan

Progress is the output of free inquiry. Unless you can inquire things and their nature freely you cannot discover new phenomena or invent new things or develop new technology.

Free inquiry requires the absence of fear. If you are afraid to ask a question or question anything which is being asked then you cannot think freely. Similarly social, religious or political pressures also confine and restrain free thinking. Hence a free environment is necessary to think freely and to explore the nature of life and universe.

Believing is a type of assumption. When theologicians argue that religion open new vistas of thought by "believing" in the things unseen they might be partially correct as there is no harm to assume something and proceed with the assumption. However they are not correct when they say you should not reject the assumption [belief] if it is not verifiable or falsifiable.

The repercussions of refusing to reject non verifiable or falsifiable assumptions have been devastating. Despite the fact that Afghans have been free in the political sense since their political consciousness came into existence, they were always under the influence of clergy and their restrictions and constraints that were not compatible with scientific methodology. The clergy discouraged any free inquiry into the causes of physical phenomena which could have implications on their self conceived dogmas, creeds or vested interests.

How less is it realized that the essence of progress, development and prosperity is not just learning science but creating science. It is not just using technology but also creating technology by which a society can move forward to a more technologically advanced level. It is not just sufficient to earn oneâ€™s living by honest means but also creating new modes of earning which will sustain our society.

We need food to survive biologically but we need creativity to survive technologically. If we just use technology and do not create it then we will just reduce to becoming a consumer society and become a parasite. The basic weapon for the survival of a state is her ability to create techniques, technology, methodologies and sciences to achieve a respectable status in the international community.

In short the first step to progress is to think freely and even if one has to believe in a certain concept of life and universe, it should be by argument and not by birth. That way the society will not only have tolerance on socio-political level but also will encourage free thinking and criticism which will open new vistas of probability for the discovery of new ideas, sciences, techniques and methodologies.

Religion is mainly a private affair based on certain dogmas, creeds, rituals, customs, traditions and morals having some points of intersection with cultures of third world countries in particular and hence should be respected. However it neither can nor should interfere into the collective politico-economic affairs of the state which are more related to the means of capital production and its distribution and hence determine whether a nation is qualified to pass the litmus test for development or not. The whole idea of development is in reference to the collective [politico-economic] aspects of social life and religion being more an individualistic affair has least to do with science of development.

Afghanistan has progressed to a good extent during the past few years though this progress is not sufficient as this is a post war interim period for the war ravaged country. Religion has been exploited for political purposes especially during the US-Russian war fought on Afghan soil. Afghanistan was a power to reckon with before that war which proves that Afghans are an enterprising nation but were used for imperialist designs with the help of religion which has been their weakness. Moreover their monarchs in the past are to blame as they did not give a clear scientific vision to the nation so they could accept the challenges of the modern scientific age. The only way out from the abyss of tribalism for Afghanistan and other third world countries is to promote science and technology and as it will pave the way for a techno-creative culture which in turn will put the under developed countries on the road to progress and prosperity.

Pakhtun National Awareness Program

Introduction

Without relying on the respective govts of countries Pakhtuns are living in, Pakhtuns should focus on their national goals, priorities, preferences and challenges in their way to have a bright future for their offspring and future generations. The more Pakhtuns depend upon other nations, the more they will lose their right of self determination as well as political freedom and sovereignty. The most important thing to realise is that the Pakhtuns in power should not let go a single right which belongs to the Pakhtun nation and use all means to get their rights from those who have snatched them. It is advisable for the Pakhtuns masses that they should consider the worst case scenario while dealing with any of their issue and based on that assumptions formulate practical ways and means to implements practical plans to achieve their goals.

It is the cry of the day to launch a Pakhtuns National Awareness [PNA] program which should aim at offering formal and informal socio-politico-economic awareness to the Pakhtun masses specially focusing on both male and female youth.

Domain of Awareness

Literature on the following subjects [and the list can be modified continuously] should be written, recorded and propagated among Pakhtun masses to promote the sense of nationhood in them. ·Visit to any area made by an Ideologue/s to talk about the PNA ideas.

Recommendation

In the contemporary age it seems that [electronic, print and cyber] media has not only become the fourth pillar of state but is one of the movers and shakers of any govt in addition to a pressure group for shaping up the future of a country.

I feel that the only institution, if controlled effectively, which can challenge the autocratic policies of military and secret agencies in Pakistan, will be media. It is my intuition that even political parties will become ineffective in future without having an effective media wing and in some cases it is quite possible that a powerful person from media might give alternative leadership to Pakhtuns.

It is therefore suggested that the educated Pakhtuns should use the various modes of media by becoming an indispensible influential part of it to execute the PNA program.

Transparency Int'l Report about Corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Transparency international has published their report blaming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to be the first in the corruption Index.

There are three aspects to the issue.

One is the inefficiency and lack of professionalism of transparency Int'l while conducting a survey in a fake and banana state like Pakistan where there is a lot of bias [their office is based at Karachi hence highlighting the report when there is a cold war between ANP and MQM has a lot of meaning in it].

Secondly the scope of survey was not aimed at the Pakhtuns specific areas and only covered non Pakhtun areas which is professional dishonesty.

Thirdly there is corruption in Pakistan in general and no steps have been taken to reduce it on state level.

The first two points should not bother Pakhtuns but the third point of reducing corruption should be taken seriously. Belonging to a poor and agrarian society, the govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should first try to know the causes of corruption and then find ways and means to eradicate these causes on provincial level atleast.

The basic cause of corruption is the lack of mechanisation and Production. The more a society depends upon human interactions the more it is vulnerable to corruption.

Hence the first step should be that systems should be mechanised ,systematised and computerised. The information explosion via the Internet, the mechanisation of transactions including bank, the seeking of jobs using cyber technology, the earning of income using e-commerce etc have all reduced a lot of corruption and created a lot means of income. The percentage of corruption in these institutions is much less than those sectors which use manual methods for transactions.

The second step is increasing industrial base and means of production. Increasing the means of Production reduces the liability of a society to be a consumer society and hence creates more and more jobs thereby giving opportunities to the people to earn money who would otherwise use unfair means to grab money and hence increase corruption in the society.

Without increasing Production capabilities and mechanisation of various sectors, to think that people will stop corruption by listening to the sermons of clergy is a utopian idea.

To the Expat Afghans

In these times when Afghanistan is going through tough and challenging times but the institutions are getting stability slowly but surely, it is the moral duty of Afghans to take the following steps in order to contribute to the stability and prosperity of Afghanistan.

1) The expats should wire the foreign exchange funds to the Banks of Afghanistan so that the banks invest in profitable businesses and economic activity commences with expedited pace. The transfer of funds to the Afghans in Pakhtunkhwa should also be wired through the banks of Afghanistan to benefit them indirectly.

2) The expats should aim at establishing world class educational institution like Harvard and Cambridge which should be in the world ranking to win an academic prestige among the comity of nations. This is a very important and urgent task as there has to be an intellectual nursery for the future generations to take the reigns of power and guide the nations rightly using the ability and potential if polished in such institution. This institution ought to have political and scientific faculties and disciplines.

3) A very effective media channel which should have a credibility among Asian channels atleast but should have the potential of competing with world class channels in the future. It is a good omen that there are already very positive steps taken in this direction. Shamshad,Tulo ,Lemar, RTA are trying their best to give the right projection to the Afghan cause but still much needs to be done.

4) Entrepreneurs in the west, who are ethnic Afghans should start thinking about not only investing in Afghanistan but use their liaison with the western entrepreneurs to convince them to invest in Afghanistan. The investors should be welcome irrespective of their nationality, race, religion or creed. It is the investment of the entrepreneurs which determines the stability and economic future of a country in the modern world. Economic interests and policies dictate political decisions in the modern world.

5) Afghanistan should give a top priority to her Cricket and soccer teams in particular and her other cultural games which could become a part of the Asian games in general like buzkashi etc.This is one of the wisest way to unite a multi ethnic and multi cultural nation.

6) The expats should tie themselves up with the Afghan govt to stop the brain drain and convince the govt to give incentives to the Afghan refugees living abroad to get them settled in Afghanistan.Afhan govt should seek the help of UN agencies for that in addition to giving privileges and perks to them inside Afghanistan. The heart of a person is stuck where his home, kith and kins are in addition to the person's investment and property.

7) The expat Afghans should form Afghan think tanks and lobbies in the west and elsewhere as the most urgent task to be done in order to safeguard the national interests of Afghanistan in the International politics.

Hamid Karzai - A Man facing immense Challenges

The Afghanistan situation is challenging but not impossible to resolve if we know the laws of cultural engineering and keep in view the historic perspective of Afghanistan. In case of Pashtuns,it is the time in history where they need to change their direction to national goals and targets in consonance with the laws of history and strive for freedom in Pakistan instead of becoming a cannon fodder for the imperialist designs of Arabs, Punjabis or any other alien force.

In case of Afghanistan one has to know the gravity of situation in which Hamid Karzai is leading the country.

Hamid Karzai is taking Afghanistan through these difficult times when Afghanistan is going through a transitional phase of trying to rehabilitate from the devastation of three decades of internal and external war. It is a very herculean and uphill task.

It should be noted that Afghanistan is a country which is inhabited by a nation which is an amalgam of the progressive Non Pashto speakers and the conservative Pashtuns, in a tribal culture but with a glorious history, and which has been a battle ground for centuries due to its geo strategic position in the past. It is one of the toughest terrain for urbanisation and mechanisation, which has been constantly under threat by its neighbours due to their imperialist designs and historic enmity with Afghans.

Hamid Karzai is a son of the soil who has been using US might to supervise the rehabilitation of the devastated land. He has played an instrumental role in converging the human and capital resources of the world not only to secure Afghanistan but also to rebuild it.

He has used the differences of the ethnic groups to the advantage of the country proving himself to be a person which statesmanship skills and an expert is statecraft.

The scattered and disillusioned Afghans with immense potential to become a glorified nation need a person who feels at home with national, local as well as international community due to his profile, who knows the business strategies devised by the movers and shakers of Halliburton on one side and the diplomatic skills to convert disadvantage to the advantage of Afghanistan, on the other.

He is the person who is well versed in the Pashto and Dari in addition to English which gives him an edge. He has worked in the higher echelons of power by the virtue of belonging to the aristocracy of the Afghans and even has been closely associated with those who were involved in the Afghan and post Afghan war.

He has taken a stand against the collateral damage as well as the opinionated US lobby who were unwilling to accept the results of the 2009 presidential election due to their political reservations. He had the courage to invite Taliban to talks despite knowing their mentors.

The foreign policy which has been pursued in his tenure has been successful in convincing the world community about the seriousness of the unrest in the Afghans due to the infiltration of Arabs, Persian, Ex-communist states , Punjabis and the ISI backed Taliban in Afghanistan.

The Afghans and Pakhtuns should appreciate a mature political approach as this is a matter of life and death for them and their motherland. Criticising unnecessarily, the Afghan struggle for the restoration of their past glory and becoming a progressive nation in the 21st century after living in a fool's paradise and Idealistic fantasy for decades, is not going to help Pakhtun and Afghans.They will have to adopt a realistic strategy.

History triggers the waves of nostalgic romanticism in our lives. It throws stone into the calm ocean of our memoirs. These waves of past generate infinite transverse wave circumscribing our already disturbed life. It might be shocking but it is a fact that in the unconscious mind the past present and future are one integral whole. We seem to live in the present, anticipate future and claim to have experienced past but the truth is far from being perceived by this simple notion.

Einstein told us that time is relative and that if we move with different velocities time will be different for us such that the faster you move the more dilated the time will become till it stops when you move with the speed of light. The mystics claimed to exist at different times and different places in different forms and in different states as Rahman baba has put it by saying.

Che pa yaw qadam arsha poray rasee … ma ledalay dey raftaar da darweshaano.

[Translation: The speed of mystics witnessed by the people with insight is so fast that they reach the heavens in the blink of an eye]

Minskowski told us that time is the fourth dimension of life. There is no existence without time. Max Planck, De Broglie and Heisenberg told us that existence, which is considered to be a function of time, is just a probability.

An Urdu poet says it in the verse:

Daboya mujh ko honay nay…na hota may to kia hota…

[Translation: My existence is my biggest crime - an ingenious expression of existentialism by Ghalib].

Stephen Hawkings told us how we can manipulate time and past, present and future to exit to another part of the universe in a quantum leap using the concept of worm holes - an idea which was previously presented by H.G.Wells in other words in his Time Machine concept. The modern "theory of Everything" explained the unity in the universe which was previously established by the Grand Unification theory [GUT] by Abdus Salam on physical level and by Sigmund Freud on psychological level. When man recalls memoirs as one does not know whether they are one’s past, present or future. Man should proactively engineer his future into events and translate his wishes to be his future.

The direction of evolution changed to psychological evolution in human beings. The brain which is the centre of all emotions, feelings, intellect and wisdom was the target of evolution.
The psychological needs and the presence of developed faculties in man gave birth to various tools, instruments in order to satisfy the instincts. The instincts in case of man developed into defence, survival, hunger, sex etc. With the passage of time they got matured enough to think about abstract values like freedom, knowledge, consciousness, humanity etc. Based on that man formed families, clans, tribes, societies till the concept of state was evolved. Now we see that all those groups who have contributed to the collective evolution of humanity are considered as developed nations and you will see that the offspring of each group or nation is the output of their intellectual and social contribution to society. The families who have been teaching will see great teachers in their family. The political families will see political figures; the sportsmen will see sportsmen in their offspring.

It is therefore concluded that specialisations evolve in various forms in a group of humans whether it is a family, a clan, a tribe , a nation or a comity of nation till the group achieves excellence in that specialisation.

Critique of Islamic Studies

The religious curriculum taught in Pakistan is the major reason for the backwardness of the Pakistani society [and all other societies in general].
Whatever I know about the very philosophy of religion or Islam is that after all the zeal, fervor and enthusiasm the new converts or the "born again" Muslims turn out to be no different than those who glorify Arab culture, language and civilisation instead of having a serious, sincere and intellectually honest approach to find out the reality , if any, in religion and how it can help solve the problems faced by humanity.

The curriculum taught in Pakistani institutions [called Madrassas, which I sometimes refer to as mad-rassas] is out of date and irrelevant to our contemporary problems and their solutions. The syllabus taught there was proposed hundreds of years ago by Nizam.

In the west, due to the dominance of Arab faculty or Arab investment, what they teach to the common Muslims is more of what is called "organized religion" in the academia which is aimed at the "glorification of the Arab culture" instead of a serious inquiry into the truth and reality of religion as a metaphysical discipline.

Just for reference, here is a glimpse of "Dars Nizami" syllabus taught in Pakistan. One can see how far they get from reality after studying for so many years. No wonder after getting "graduated" from Dars Nizami , they start considering the masses around them as some lunatic aliens who need to be shown the right path.

The Islamic studies taught in universities are a perfect way to indoctrinate students' minds with the Arab culture. I condemn this approach. It is a cheating which the presenters and the propagators of the Islamic studies do. The serious students of Islamic studies should raise a voice against it. How is it a cheating? Here is the answer.

In 99.99% of cases Islam is projected as the way of life, the salvation for humanity, the only true philosophy of life, the perfect system of life, correct code of life, the universal teachings of the prophets etc etc.

All these definitions if analysed logically are purely academic ones. If you say that it is an explanation of life and existence, you need to refute the contemporary and/ or ancient ideas about life and existence. It encompasses the theory of origin of universe, the nature of life, the composition and nature of human beings, all these are the topics of physics, biology and philosophy.

If you assert the existence of God and consider it a source for all Islamic teachings you need to discuss the scholarly arguments for the existence of God or the refutation of non existence of God. This includes among other things the basic conceptions about logic, ontology and physics. You cannot neglect creationist vs evolutionary approaches, the scholastic interpretations of, for example, Shah Waliullah , Jamaluddin Afghani, Syed Qutub, Mohmmad Qutub, Iqbal, Harun Yahya etc from the modern age and Ibne Rushd, AlGhazali, Almawardi, Ibne Arabi etc from the medieval age and a lot more.

Similarly you need to question the modern sociological theories and concepts about society, its growth, institutions, civil rights etc in case of social and family related injunctions of the Quran etc.You need to be aware of the the role of various revolutions and their contribution to the makeup of various definitions related to family, social group,community,soceity etc.

The same is true about a lot of other aspects of life which need to be considered. Without these considerations, as I claimed earlier, defining Islam, is just an effort to arabise people in the name of Islam. Asking them to learn the science of religion [Islam] while practically teaching them just about the language, culture and history of the nation who claimed to offer a solution to the problems of humanity and not critically evaluating the solution itself.

This is same as asking people to learn science and technology and practically teaching them about British, European and American cultures instead of teaching them about Pure and Applied Sciences like Physics, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, etc.

NWFP officially renamed as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

The 15th April 2010 marks the historic day when the 18th amendment was passed and hence first step was taken towards the recognistion of Pashtuns as the second major nation [ethnic group] living in Pakistan.

The renaming of NWFP will have positive effects on Pashtun nation.If more provinces are made as result of Hazara's objection to renaming the province then Pakhtuns and othr nationalities in Pakistan will see two positive steps in the future:

1) The creation of another division in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province carved out of present Hazara division due to the concensus of the MP's from Battagram,Shangla and Kohistan Distt of Hazara division as these distt are predominantly Pakhtun.

2) Punjab will be divided into three provinces Potohar,Seraikistan and Punjab which will help break the monopoly and hegemony of Punjab over the resources of other provinces by reducing its votes in the National Assembly of Pakistan.

The Pakhtuns of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will now own the province and the land as they had never accepted the existence of Pakistan consciously due to the flawed referendum after the creation of Pakistan in which they were just asked to become either a part of India or Pakistan ,not giving them the third option to become a part of their historic motherland Afghanistan.

The renaming will hopefully lead to the renaming of the Pashtun Belt of Balochistan as Bolan or South Pakhtunkhwa,in addition to the merger of Attock and Mianwali into the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the future.

FATA will also be considered to be an option for becoming a province ,though the Durand line issue still exists between Afghanistan and Pakistan.The names to be considered for FATA are Central Pakhtunkhwa from the Pakhtun Nationalists while Qabailistan from the Pakistani establishment.I think Qabaili Pakhtunkhwa will be a good compromise and an acceptible name too for FATA.

Justification of the name - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

NWFP has been renamed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.In my opinion ,the new name Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is fine. The reasons are;

1) Pakhtunkhwa just for North Pakhtunkhwa [NWFP] would have been unjustified.Pakhtunkhwa has much larger geographical jurisdiction than what is it perceived to be by common people.

2) The name Khyber Pakhtunkhwa paves the way for renaming the Pakhtun belt of Balochistan as well as FATA. I think If we call the South Pakhtunkhwa as Bolan Pakhtunkhwa and FATA as Qabaili Pakhtunkhwa,it will be justified. They have a meaning now being parts of Pakistan and even in future even if the Pakhtunkhwa becomes a separate state, these names will make sense.

3) However it is debatable whether FATA [Central Pakhtunkhwa] should be merged with Pakistan or not. In my opinion if it is merged it will give Pakhtuns more strength to get their freedom in the future. Also it will no more be a proxy land of Islamabad to be used against Afghanistan. Atleast if it is under a Pakhtun CM ,it will not be used as efficiently against Afghanistan as it is being used now.

4) I think the next demand should be to have a separate province for South Pakhtunkhwa - the Pashtun belt of Balochistan.

5) ANP should also support Seraikis for a separate province with the condition that they do not claim Attock and Mianwali as part of it.

6) If FATA Pakhtuns agree then we can demand a separate province [preferable] or merger [less likely] for Qabaili Pakhtunkhwa.

7) The final equation for Pakhtunkhwa becomes:
Pakhtunkhwa = Khyber Pakhtunkhwa+ Bolan Pakhtunkhwa+ Qabaili Pakhtunkhwa

8) One of the arguments against change of names could be calling it North, South, Central Pakhtunkhwa.But I think historic names have more relevance and are more appealing to people then geographical directions. At the end of the day all these names [Khyber,Bolan,Qabaili] are used by Pakhtuns [or atleast proper nouns specific to Pakhtun land] and hence better than geographical directions.

Clergy - A Hurdle in the growth of Pashtun society

Pakhtuns are traditionally the followers of the Arabian cultural ideology called Islam by the Arabs and have been the victims of intellectualisation by the clergy. The result is that instead of nurturing a culture of intellectualism their society has been suffering from intellectual stagnation.

In Pashtun society everything is defined by the mullah-presented-religion, whose latest version was developed by Abdul Wahab Najadi and later on promoted by Al Saood so we should not expect any creativity, criticism and intellectualism from Pakhtuns.

Pakhtuns have been used as guinea pigs for the survival of Pakistan and a military version of religion has been taught to them by the military junta and its agencies for their ulterior motives, how can you expect them to have liberal , secular version which can encompass and encapsulate the discoveries and the techno creative cultural values of science and technology?

Pakhtuns are a nation which has been fighting against the hegemonial and imperialist designs of the invaders and intruders all their life, would find it an exercise in futility to engage in discussion and debate which is either against their religion with which they have been hypnotised for more than a thousand years or a waste of time for their survival which has always been on stake due to their geo strategic location.

Intellectualisation is what has been taught to Pakhtuns by the mullah instead of Intellectualism. We need to liberate Pakhtuns from the false Bedouin myths, Indic philosophising mindset as well as the cultist Punjabi version of religion. The same race has otherwise given birth to those who pioneered and excelled in so many walks of life. In very recent history Pakhtuns have experienced those times when the whole world including the Arab projected sacred land was under the clutches of slavery or invasion except Afghanistan, whose inhabitants did not bow their heads to any invader or imperialist.

It is a good omen that the new generation of educated Pakhtuns after witnessing the devastations of traditional clergy , are embracing Pakhtuns nationalism by choice and conscously. However Nationalism does not just imply being part of a political party, revering the words and persona of the leaders and intellectualising their words without using one's own energies to understand the helm of affairs. It also implies helping the nation to move forward and get at par with other developed nations of the world by learning science and technology.

Should we support Taliban - Part 2

When they came to know about the plot of their exploitation at the hands of Paki forces and agencies they in retaliation turned to destroy the govt and state of Pakistan as they did that of Afghanistan. Now the Paki agencies and forces sensing that decided to defame and unpopularise them in the eyes of their own people as well as those of other Pakis because the Paki forces and agencies support them only to destabilise Afghanistan bit when it comes to Pakistan they would like to depict them as “zaliman, scum of earth, animals, barbarians, killers, ignorant...etc".

Again what a bold move……. We have seen Pak army dragging the body of Pir samiuallah from the grave and hanging it from the pole and the whole word got a chance to abuse the name of Pakhtun. You forcefully marry our young girls in the name of Islam. You destroy our schools, you sentence our women a life time prison in the name of Islam. If this is Islam what is being promoted by you then I am done with Islam. You were those animals who flogged the innocent girl in front of so many people which never ever happened in the pakhtun lands before.

This is just because they dont want them to destabilise Pakistan which is the dreamland of their exploitation of Pakhtuns and other deprived people of Pak.
I guess you left nothing for them to exploit any more, you have done enough destruction. Our people are displaced, our kids are traumatized, our homes are destroyed, our most kind city PESHAWAR a ghost place now. You have converted a proud pakhtun nation into beggers.

I wonder what kind of people you are, ked a nar bachee ye no maidan ta shai che pa mianz de oshlawoo. If our men here have not enough Gharat to slap on your face we the ‘da toor sare’ are enough for you.

[A]It should be noted that in the 90’s ISI exploited the opportunity as there were genuine Pakhtun fighters who have been fighting against the USSR forces and then ISI inducted the fake Taliban to hijack those genuine ones using Col Imam, Zameer typa stereotype stooges seeing that those genuine ones were not united and organised. I have already termed this faction of Taliban as the fake Taliban – those who were ISI/army guys pretending to be Taliban.

The same happened here in Pakistan. The genuine ones when they turned to Pakistan, Paki forces /ISI again planned to hijack them by inducting their people. So they can be used not only to sabotage the Taliban who were against the Paki state and govt but also to
1) kill Pakhtuns and disarm them by making them IDP’s so that they should not rise against the army by giving a helping hand to the genuine Taliban.
2) occupy their land for military presence(Cantts).
3) encash their struggle to get billions of dollars from the US to strengthen Paki army which is mostly from Punjab.

The most unfortunate thing due to which I started this debate is that they are using even our PAKHTUN POLITICAL PARTIES indirectly to achieve their agenda of defaming the genuine Taliban and turning people against them.

Remember Afghanistan govt is in favour of Pakistani Taliban and want them to win and they are correct as this is a genuine reaction and retaliation by the Taliban against the Paki banana state. Afghan govt is against the Taliban in Afghanistan (who are projected as heroes by Paki media) and against people like Hekmatyar and Rabbani as they know about their role in the past.

The crux of the matter therefore is that:

The genuine Taliban were hijacked by ISI in Afghanistan hence Pakistan support them and Afghanistan denounce them while the genuine Taliban in Pakistan are supported by Afghanistan and denounced by Pakis.

The difference is while Paki army/ISI has a plan (though an exercise in futility) to defame the genuine Taliban by using once again the fake Taliban (who are ISI guys) to kill Pakhtuns en masse and occupy their land and resources, the govt of Afghanistan being weak after 30 years of war has to ask the ISAF/NATO forces to get rid of both fake and genuine Taliban. This is a heavy price which Afghanistan is paying because no state will do anything for humanitarian purposes as the Americans saying goes " No Dinner is free".

[P]My GOD! I'm (almost) speechless! The Taliban still have supporters amongst us?!?!

Before someone demands to be supported by others, they MUST show us that they have earned our support! What have the Taliban ever done to deserve our support? They've done nothing by destroyed our ultimate being, for God's sake! They've destroyed our homes, chopped our limbs, beheaded our loved ones -- and the list goes on and on and on!

Name ONE positive thing they've done for us, if you can. Then we'll see whether Taliban are worthy of our support or not. I'm utterly stunned,still that there exist Pashtuns who think we should support the Taliban, in spite of what the latter have done to us!! Shame on you, Pir Rokhana! Shame on you.

And we don't need the Taliban to "spread" Islam, all right? We need to first be good, practicing Muslims ourselves before we go about forcing everyone else to become Muslims or to "practice the *right* Islam"! And what Islamic thing have they ever done that's Islamically acceptable ever since their creation?

I represent Afghan/Pashtun point of view [hence called myself AF] not Indian. The Pakistanis are so obsessed with India phobia that anything which is near to fair they term it Indian. The discussion is about different points of views. World need to know how we [Afghans/Pashtuns] feel about both India and Pakistan both. As a matter of history, for Afghans both Indians and Pakistanis minus Afghans are the same stocks.

As far as Kashmir issue is concerned, it is same type of issue as Durand line. Who runs away and who stays is decided on arguments not claims.

PK:I really don’t know you are from which country and represent which one but as far as Afghans are concerned, let me share with you that we have two representatives of Afghanistan here with us (UK). One of them is Uzbek while other is Afghan/Pakhtun. They initially went to India and got visa for UK from India. Pakhtun representative didn’t like his government this policy for being so declined towards India.
As far as Kashmir is concern, so don’t try to defend the indefensible, even their foreign policy expert cant do that.

Now coming over to the role of India in destruction of Pukhtunland. Please go and check about Uzbek terrorists working in FATA. They are proper trained terrorists, carrying same kind of laptops and maps of Pakhtun areas with them. They are involved in most of terrorist activities inside Pukhtunland. They have not carried out a single terrorist attack in Punjab, their main target is Pukhtunland. I hope you know who are they? They are supported by Northern Alliance and India
So just imagine how Indians are loyal to Pakhtuns.

AF: Whether its Uzbeks from Uzbekistan or Tajiks from Tajikistan or Arabs or others all were brought by ISI.Hence the real culprit is ISI not them. A single bird cant fly without the knowledge of the PA and so much has been happening in FATA.How is it logically possible without state sponsorship? India is the friend of Afghans and Pakhtuns both and is much more reliable and useful than the occupation forces of Pakistan. This is a historic fact. After the balkanisation of Pakistan, India being the next candidate for super power has to be kept in good books of Pakhtun.The filthy Punjabi Muslims and their bootlickers are of no use to Pakhtuns.

PK:ISI and CIA brought them for USSR and now India is using them against Pakhtuns. If India really wants to take revenge of Kashmir they could use them in Punjab as well but India is using them in Pukhtunland. And here great Pakhtuns are calling India Pakhtun friend. If that is friendship, then we don’t need such friends.As I already mentioned India is only engaged to kill Pakhtuns and that is why she has opened so many consulates particularly near Pakistan so as to use these criminal Uzbeks/Tajiks against Pakhtuns in Pakistan.

AF:There is no justification what so ever why India will use anyone against Pakhtuns. Pakhtuns are by nature rebellius.They have a history of saying no to dictation, invasion and oppression. There are already freedom sentiments among Pakhtuns and the incapable military and civil beaurucracy is helping Pakhtuns and Baluch to yearn more for freedom with every passing day. The govt in Pakhtunkhwa has a history of freedom against British imperialism along with the seniors of Congress.

The Taliban on Pakistani side are against the state hence already in sync correctly with what the oppressed nations in Pakistan want. Why on earth then will India do all these things? However there are credible evidences which I can produce that India is involved in the bombings in Punjab and Sind. It is a natural reaction of what Pakistan has been doing. So blame your agencies not India. Your agencies have been involved in Political conspiracies against elected govt instead of doing their job to safeguard the country from foreign elements.

PK:Pakhtuns have killed many Indians not only in Kashmir but also in all Pak-India wars. Pakistan has always supported Pakhtun domination in Afghanistan while India has always supported Northern Alliance. So there is a history of rivalry between Pakhtuns and Indians. So far I never came a across a single Uzbek ever involved in any kind of bombing in Punjab, they are only killing Pakhtuns. I don’t know from where you can bring the evidences. If you hate Pakistan, its OK, but don’t try to make enemies of Pakhtuns (Indians) our friends

AF:Pakhtuns might have killed them when they were a part of Pakistan army as a pat of their duty not as a national antagonism. Pakistan supports Pakhtuns in Afghanistan only in case when the Pashtuns play the role of ISI puppets like that of Taliban. Pakistan has no sympathies with Pashtuns otherwise It woud not kill them indiscriminately in Pakistan itself.

Northern alliance is against the titular role of Kabul hence it is a bone of contention for Pakistan. I also haven’t seen a single Uzbek involved in killing of Pashtuns, always its Pakistani agencies who are involved in the killing of Pakhtuns.Only ISPR sees Uzbeks or Tajiks of Afghanistan in the suicide bombs. No other independent media says anything about them. The ones who might be involved are from the Islamic movement of Uzbekistan or other such terrorism.
Well its always a good diplomatic practice and better foreign relation policy even to convert foes into friends, if they are foes at all.

PK: Pakistan demanded for Pakhtun domination in Afghanistan at a time when Taliban government was overthrown by US, Gulbadin Hikmatyar had already turned against Pakistan, and then you tell whom Pakistan was referring to while asking for Pakhtun domination. In my view every country of the world desires to have a friendly neighbouring country. Pakhtuns of Afghanistan due to their cemented relations with Pakhtuns of Pakistan is always a viable option for Pakistan. So even if Pakistan supported Pakhtuns of Afghanistan for its own interest even then it’s OK.

Please go to Waziristan and ask about Uzbeks, they will tell who are they and who all are supporting them, there is no media in Waziristan, so you can get first hand knowledge from the local people.

AF: Converting enemy into friends is a good diplomatic step indeed if the enemy is not Indian. You cannot trust them man. It is India which has stalled the progress of all SAARC nations due its adamant behaviour on some core issues with all SAARC countries particularly Pakistan.

Gulbadin has never been against Pakistan. Pakistan has no right to install a friendly or otherwise govt, it is the right of the Afghans. This is what is infiltration, intervention and interference into others affairs. Desiring doesn’t mean interfering.

The cemented relation is aimed at strategic depth not at benefitting Pakhtuns.If it was welfare, Pakistan would not have destroyed Afghanistan and would not have massacred Pakhtuns in Pakhtunkhwa.For Waziristan please hear the sentiments of the wazirs about Pakistan in this video.

India phobia is the central axis of Pakistan military and even the foundation of Pakistan. But it is too late you cannot keep Pakistan together anymore by India phobia. India is far ahead of Pakistan in tech and other sectors. Military strength has no relevance due to nuclear teeth of both countries.

PK: I only talked of Pakistan desire of having friendly neighbour and not of intervention. Those who were talking of strategic depth or any interference are now hiding their faces.

With its growing economy and size, India should also change its behaviour, if India call itself a regional power, it should act accordingly, it should resolve all outstanding issues with its neighbours. I am sure all SAARC countries will recognize India as regional power and will also support her in getting a permanent seat in Security Council.

AF: In diplomatic language this is what you say and not what you do. You talk about desire for friendly relationship and practically treat Afghanistan as a fifth province, though those days are gone now.Pakistan army has massacred Pakhtuns in these operations in Pakhtunkhwa, in the name of Taliban whom they neither can nor will kill or destroy as Taliban is the strategic asset of paki military.India is a regional power already and has issues only with China - a power of her class and calibre, which will get resolved with time.

For Pakhtuns, the Durand line issue is more important than Kashmir issue. I support the third option of an independent Kashmir, though practically it good for Kashmir to become a part of India as it will become a part of next super power than being a small state whose economy is based on tourism.

Pakhtunkhwa, once it gets freedom and has not merged with Afghanistan, could also get into a confederation with India. It will boost Pakhtunkhwa with accelerated pace in terms of development as Indian human resource is the most efficient one and this is my practical experience here in the Middle East.

Swat operation was a drama by the forces to restore their rapport which they lost in the CJ Iftikhar case which itself was a drama which turned into a reality because the CJ had the suffix Chowdhry with his name.

AF: How can, for example, Pakistan recognise India as a power. The whole state foundation and organogram of the army with a state and its illegitimate empire is based on India phobia. However I was referring to the status of India more in terms of development indicators and less in terms of diplomatic front.

PK: As per UN Resolution, India is bound to grant the people of Kashmir the right of self-determination. Now its up to Kashmir is what they want.

AF: I have told you that though a third option of Independent Kashmir is always there and might be a solution to the so called issue however ,Kashmir will be better off with an ancient civilisation than to be with a 40 years old state carved out of an artificial amalgam of revengeful British long terms political strategy coupled with the fear of the Punjabi capitalist class.

AF: I said India is a candidate. It is just my assessment as I have seen Indian minds behind the grooming economies of the developed countries and the growth rate associated thereof. You need to go out of Lahore and observe it for you. My kibla might not be India as I refrain from glamorising Arab Ideals in an alien language however what your folks should be concerned about is that the world might turn their face to India with high probabilistic certainty in the future.

AF: Pakhtuns genetic code lacks the combination and permutation of those alphabets which turn out to accept a "master” in the remotest sense. However the scope of my analysis was purely circumcised by the domain of I.R and philosophy of history without any offence to the feelings of those who are good at transforming their wishes into words.

PK: As far as your remarks about India are concerned, you may be correct as far as one side of the story is concern but I have also shown you the other side.

AF: The fact is that when you belong to a third world community and society and you are a Christian then you are called 'Churray' even if you are less black than the more colored man of America.The same is true for Muslims.If you are "Ajami" then your religion and muslimhood does not matter.You are still looked down upon.This is very common in Middle east and most common in the cradle of Islam- Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand,if you are non muslim and have a green card ,for example, you become more important.The people of the third world are under the false impression that just by changing their religion they would earn respect of the comity of nations.This is absolute misconception.It is only by owning yourself, history, culture, language which results in a genuine progress and properity that you earn respect in the league of nations.The same is true for the Pashtuns in Pakistan.

No matter how sincerely you serve other nations and sacrifice your life for their glory,they would not respect you for your talent or abilties but for serving and glamourising them.The question is not whether we should or should not claim our rights due to serving the military-owned Pakisatn or serving Punjab,the real question for Pakhtuns is whether we here to glamourise other nations ,serve them and serve their interests and accept their superiority?

My opinion is that no matter what happenes,I am not going to submit to the superiority of another nation.Nor am I going to waste my life in glorifying Arabs or Punjabis or Indians or any other nation except my own.It does not, however, mean that I do not know or will not appreciate any quality or contribution made by any person of any other nation.Slavery ,whether it is mental ,physical,social,or politic-economic ,is simply unacceptible to me.

Political Maligning of Pashtuns,Punjabis and Irish

Maligning of an ethnic group is a political issue. You see where ever a freedom struggle is in progress ,the govt machinery maligns that ethnic group. In India, the Punjabi Sikhs are maligned due to their political motives. Their brethren in Pakistan, the Muslim Punjabis, who are the same people, on the other hand, are projected as some ethnic group which has come from heaven due to having political advantage. This proves that it is not the ethnic group but their geo-political status which matters.

The Pashtuns in Afghanistan are not called Pathans or maligned much or even those in FATA as they were used by Pakistan military as cannon fodders and as proxy warriors to safeguard the interests of Pakistani establishment by fighting against Russia. In case of Russia it was Pashtun Mujahedeen backed by Pakistani army, ISI and CIA ,who were used to defeat Russia and when that was done then ISI controlled all the Mujahidin groups and installed puppets govt of these mujahedeen to use Afghanistan for its strategic depth against India.

Nowadays, it is Taliban who are being used by ISI to defeat US and then once that is done they will used to have a puppet govt in Afghanistan to be used against India on the pretext of Religion.

The Pakhtun who are associated with the Pakhtun nationalism, on the contrary, are maligned as much as possible in various forms. It is another fact that in this business Pakistan’s own existence has also been threatened and its chances of survival are decreasing with each passing day. The reason is that there is a religious polarization and hence conflict in army on one side and on the other side the masses are suffering even in Punjab and this policy only serves military generals of Pakistan not her masses.

Similarly the Irish who are pro Britain are glorified while those who are against British hegemony are projected as some fanatics and the list goes on and on.

Despite the fact that according to one school of thought which advocates Jewish origin of Pashtuns or atleast some of its tribes like Yousafzais , Afridis etc the ancestor of Pashtuns , Kais Neka ,later named Abdur Rashid ,After embracing Islam at the hands of the prophet Muhammad, should be considered by Muslims as Sahabi [companion of prophet, according to the definition of sahabi –any person who has seen and met Prophet is a Sahabi according to Sunni school of thought ] they are still maligned in Pakistan for example ,due to political vested interests. Even the word used by the Prophet [the one who is literally worshipped by, for example, Bralvees of Pakistani Punjab] was “Batan” and as there is no P in Arabic so it was perverted to Patan or Pathan.Later it was perverted to a derogatory meaning synonymous to the one who is a kidnapper.

This proves one thing. Religion is not the deciding factor in Politics otherwise why would Pakistani establishment and military be against Bengalis ,Baluch and Pashtuns as they are much better Muslims than the Punjabi Muslims. But when it comes to vested interest, all these abstract ideas of religion become less important and ethnicity and nationhood become more important. If you pinpoint this bitter fact, the establishment and those in the higher echelons of power will call you racist and give you sermons of worshipping their country which as a concept is not only a sin but equivalent to “Shirk”- the biggest sin in Islam - even by the national poet and the alleged conceiver of Pakistan.

If you believe in the sanctity of a state and consider Pakistan as your country but try to seek help or shelter when you are in distress from your fellow countrymen then the state will get huge amounts of money from the world in your name but will not even let you take refuge in one or another of its provinces like Punjab or Sind forgetting that you are Pakistani and should have the right to take refuge in case your province or district or city is hit by a disaster ,catastrophe or terror.

If you fight the terrorists and sacrifice your lives in Pakhtunkhwa to safeguard Pakistan then it is okay but if the terrorists change their strategy and attack Punjab then the CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif literally asks the terrorist to spare Punjab [hinting them to focus on the Pakhtun areas and use Pakhtuns as scapegoats].What a country to live in??

The nagative role of clergy and its impact on Pashtuns

The internationalization of religion and its presentation as a system of life is a conspiracy of the clergy which could be understood once the history of the organised religion is studied. In every religion, be it Judaism, Christianity, Islam , Jainism, Buddhism or others, the religious bureaucracy has always transformed some progressive concepts meant for the betterment of a certain nation into an organised religion. Vested interest and the greed for wealth and influence on the lives of others are so tempting instincts that it is difficult to overpower them.

More interestingly the clergy class has always made compromises with the power elite to have their share. Abdul Wahab Najdi was a prime example. His compromise with the monarchy and the current power structure of Al Saud having reigns of power and the Wahabis having control over the faith and destiny of the ignorant masses is very vivid. Jeddah which is a versatile prostitution market under the veil for the royal family, is a good amalgam of the religious bigotry of the clergy and the autocracy of the monarchy.

Another example from the past has been the deterministic ethics which were prevalent in the Umayyad, Abbasid and Fatimid Dynasties of Arabs. It was in those times that "Sufi" school of thought came into existence to institutionalise and intellectualise the oppressive concepts of religion into a system of thought.Individualism,Introspective and Introvert mode of life was glorified instead of emphasizing on the collective and social aspects of life and the duties of the state (called sultanate at that time).

The same religious concepts were raised to the zenith of human thought by the Indian intellect.Ashraf Ali Thanvi's concepts of religion and Sufism as presented in his books are the master pieces of such oppressed individualistic mentality. The same was preceded by Hafiz Shirazi of Iran.

Sufism was the tool to justify and intellectualise the monarchy of the Arab rulers. It was later made a philosophy of life by personalities like Ibne Arabi and AlGhazali.The "Futoohate Makkiyah" and "Fusus ul Hukam" of Ibne Arabi and "Kitab Ur Rooh" of AlGhazali were the intellectual efforts to institutionalise Sufism as an intellectual school of thought. The two school which emerged out of it were called Wahdatul wajood (Ibne Arabi) and wahdatul shahood (Sheikh Ahmed sirhindi aka Mujadad Alf thani).Later the two schools were reconciled by Shah Waliullah.

In Pashtuns though Rahman baba, Hamza baba and Ghani khan represent a class which is comparable with the intellectual level of the Sufi thought,however the nature of Pashtuns, like Arabs, is more extrovert and hence more practical contrary to an introvert one, which is the type of mentality and behavior which suits Sufism.

The crux of the discourse is the dogmatic , anti social and impractical concepts of religion in Pashtuns is a continuity of the same virus from which our societal structure has been suffering.This virus produced a confused mentality about our national interests as any struggle toachive it as any struggle to progress and prosperous.

Reflections on Pakhtun Freedom

The Pakhtun cause is to become a sovereign, free and respectable nation in the world. There are two goals to be achieved for the Pakhtun Freedom.

The Stability of Afghanistan:
The days of using Afghanistan for strategic depth against India are gone. Afghanistan is and will remain to be a free and independent sovereign state despite of the malicious propaganda by the Punjabi dominated media of Pakistan. The sell-out Punjabised Pakhtuns on the payroll of ISI known as Taliban could not even divide it. Even the non-Pashtun Afghans are against any division of the unitary Afghanistan which has been the graveyard for all those who tried to ruin and devastate it. As the Durand line is not acceptable to Pakhtuns hence the issue still remains between Pakistan and Afghanistan like the Kashmir issue.

Provincial Autonomy for a United Pakhtun Province in Pakistan:
Pakhtuns are more exploited, humiliated and now killed along with a loss of language, culture, identity, history and glory in Pakistan. The only way for the Pakhtuns to remain in Pakistan is to unite them within Pakistan in a united Pakhtunkhwa province consisting of NWFP, Northern areas, Attock Mianwali, Pakhtun belt of Baluchistan as demanded by the Pakhtun nationalist parties. Provincial autonomy is the next step to make them really a part of Pakistan. This is the demand of all three provinces whose resources are being exploited by Punjab for the last 60 years plus. A true federation is the only way out for Pakistan.

Pakhtuns and other oppressed nations, if given their due share and rights in governance are not in favour of merging with Afghanistan unless the compulsive forces of history merge them. The crux of the matter is that all the nationalities in Pakistan have to be given their due rights and share in power otherwise Pakistan will disappear from the map of the world. If these conditions are met Pakhtuns are not in favour of getting separated from Pakistan. It is life of dignity and honour which is what Pakhtuns demand which they don’t find in a rogue state like Pakistan which has become a symbol of dishonour, terrorism, fundamentalism, corruption and defacto rule of Punjabi army and the malicious intelligence agencies.

Hurdles in the Pakhtun Freedom:

The Pakistani Media:
Pakhtuns are already mesmerised by PTV,ISPR and “Mutalia Pakistan” so much that they do not know who was Amir Karor, Mirwais Neka, Ahmed Shah baba,Abdul Ahad Momand, Khuhshal Khan Khattak, Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, Bacha Khan, Sanober Husain kakaji , Hamza Shinwari etc.The Pakistanised Pakhtuns now only know those British puppets who were used by them to create a banana republic for the cold war using the name of religion or those Punjabis who offered their services for safeguarding the interests of Punjab etc.

The Power Elite of Pakistan:
The elite class of Pakistan consisting of military and civil beaureocracy is enjoying their lives at the cost of those innocent, poor, exploited Pakhtuns, Balochis and Sindhi labour class who have been living below poverty line in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan due to the autocratic rule of Punjabi army who have been scaring the people of Pakistan with India phobia.The fact ,thought, is that the Pakistan Punjabnis are the same people as their cousins across the border.A people who are no different from the Punjabis of India and Pakistan as both have the same blood, color, culture, history. It is just some Arabic phrases , sentences and rituals which the Muslim Punjabis have adopted which is not sufficient to make them different from their cousins.Pakhtuns dont even recognize the version of Punjabi Islam which justifies killing millions of Afghans and devastating their state to safeguard their interest covering it under the cover of their version of Islam.

Options for Pakhtuns:
I propose that Pakhtuns have three options contrary to Baloch, who have no other option but to get separate and Pakhtuns should support them to get rid of Punjabi imperialism.

1) Pakhtuns can still can live in Pakistan (anyway the current Pakistan was an Afghan colony under Ahmed shah baba's Afghanistan) but under the condition that there should be a united province called Afghania or Pakhtunkhwa or Pakhtunistan with provincial autonomy. If Pakistanis want to run Pakistani affairs,Pakhtuns should be given equal share in power to rule.If our demands for our legal rights mean the breakup of Pakistan then Pakistan should break up sooner than later.

2) The creation of a separate state for Pakhtuns like Baluchistan, Karachi city state (on the lines of Singapore), Sindho Desh, Bengal etc.

3) The merger of Pakhtun land with Afghanistan.

Conclusion:
The Pakhtuns who were made a part of Pakistan as a result of the fraudulent referendum which all Punjabised Pakhtuns refer to in their writings are still facing the music. It is good that Khudai Khidmatgaars boycotted the drama which stamped misery and deprivation on the fate of Pakhtuns in Pakistan once and for all. We should think about what we have gained and what we have lost after being a part of Pakistan. Are our ears deaf not to hear the cries and miseries of those IDPs whose parents, kids, sons and daughters are killed by Punjabi army and air force to prove their efficiency in meeting the two weeks deadline given by the US to Pakistan after which they were going to invade Pakistan???Are we blind not to see the exploitation of our water and power resources by Punjab? Will we give an inch of your land to any person of our own lineage and kinship?

Here the situation is that Punjab has got all the waters of our rivers and diverted them to make their lands fertile and left us jobless to beg for petty jobs in the streets of Punjab? Don’t we see the revenue from tobacco being used just to make that Pakistan prosperous which means Punjab only? Does the failure of Gadoon Amazai by Punjabi industrialists and beaureocracy not ring bells in our mind? Don’t we know that this entire Taliban phenomenon is an ISI drama? Don’t you know that it is a strategy to malign Pakhtuns and to show to the west that Taliban is a reality and hence get dollars at the cost of innocent Pakhtun blood? Don’t we know that Fazlullah's radio was established, maintained and safeguarded by army ? Are we not aware of Sufi Mohammad? Don’t we know that he is an ISI stooge who was used by ISI through major Amir in nineties? Pakhtuns should stand for their kith and kins, rights and nation ,land and "watan" and reject submission to any oppressor.

Pakhtuns are Afghans and they by their very emotional and mental make up cannot consider submission to be wisdom. The international political scenario now needs the unification of Pakhtunland.Intellectualising our slavery, justifying the occupation of our resources by Punjab, pacifying the natural retaliation against the usurping of our property, our resources is not in the national interest of Pakhtuns. Preferring to be a slave and being proud of it and calling it wisdom is a death to the Pakhtun cause. It is not wisdom to submit our freedom to Pakistan after selling our conscience for some bucks, it is rather a shame for any Pakhtun.

A) Well I am not interested in your country.The problem is that you have only studied the Punjabi version which is against academic ethics. I do not have any problem if you love Pakistan, the problem is that you do not call spade a spade. By the way I live in the most dangerous area of your beloved country [near Pakistan Afghan border] and while you would have read about Pakistan, I have seen and experienced it with my own eyes. Love is blind but it does not mean it blinds everyone around too.

P) Do you mean the same Soviet Russia that slaughtered more than 1 million and a half Afghans?

A) Russia was invited by Dr Najib’s progressive govt, my dear. Please read the historic archives. It was a help by an ideological ally. Just read the steps of Najib’s govt and reforms during that golden era. The reason for the human loss of lives was not that Russia wanted to kill but it was Pakistan idea to involve US and put a stop to revolution. Gen Zia being a dictator wanted to legitimise his regime.

If you don’t understand this basic idea then your blind love will conceal every fact of life around you. Please read “The Bear Trap” by MARK EDKIN and Brig YUSUF of Pakistan Army. WILLIAM CASEY was the CIA chief at that time. I am not fond of refuting your argument for fun, as you are enjoying life over there in US while it is our poor but brave people both in Afghanistan and Pakistan who are getting killed every day due to the power elite who benefits from this type of imperialistic logic which you are trying to advocate.

P) The same goes for Karzai and the Afghan government, they are only for dollars. Instead of pointing fingers at Pakistan, you might want to fix your own home up first. There is a saying "When you point a finger at others, your own three fingers point back at you".

A) This is immature thinking pattern but to encourage you to continue your so called neutral study, I am sure you know that Karzai is from an Aristocratic and well off family in Afghanistan and was working in Halliburton in US. He is the son of former high official in Afghan politics. Why would he involve himself in the most dangerous geostrategic game that too in a country which is surrounded by enemies and which has been war struck for 3 decades? So while I am not saying he is perfect or his team consists of angels, the points which I raised about Pakistan's crime are admitted by more Pakistanis than others.

Pakistan Army kill innocent people and tell the world that they kill terrorists and get more bucks from the world and from US. Even had they invested this money in the welfare of common man still this would not have been justified by any law of ethics or morality.However the bitter truth is that all the money for Earthquakes, GWOT etc was invested in strengthening the army empire in Pakistan not in the welfare of common man or even low rank army personnel.

Come here to your country [ which you do not prefer despite claiming its blind love as it is a living hell for common people] and see for yourself the empire of Fauji Foundation, Fauji Fertlizer, Army Real Estate schemes, Army welfare Trust and so much. Critique of Religious Authorities in Pashtun Society

Pashtuns have typical sources of knowledge in their society who are considered authentic called "Mullas". These Mullas are normally the teachers and preachers of religion who use reason,logic and argument only to their advantage.The intellectual level, academic abilities and acquaintance of contemporary social and physical sciences of a mulla are not upto mark. Most of them have obsolete knowledge about the life and universe which is transmitted to their audience without being challenged.

This is 21st century.It is worth listening to a scientist who knows much more about the world and universe then the Mullas who use religion as their source of income. What scientist is saying is based on scientific proof acceptible globally.

The problem with religeous people is that the moment they hear anything related to knowledge and science, they directly reject it attributing it to God without knowing what they mean. For example ,saying God can destroy the world does not contradict what science says.Sceince tells us how will the God destroy the world.God sends the rain may be the belief of a believer but science tells us how He sends the rain. God created the universe but how has He created is what science tells us. The illogical mentality nurtured by our religious people is a big hurdle to our progress.

Knowledge and creativity is the product of enquiry and skepticism not belief and faith. It is another bitter fact that what we call faith is just the emotional and non scientific explanation of some clergymen who have no idea of what the world and universe is all about and have conquered the minds of our simple people with their sweet words which are meant as a social requirement to get more and more alms and charity.

I would like to opine that the only logical way for considering any point of view is a skeptic approach towards it. We should neither accept nor reject a point of view if it is not supported by sufficient arguments.

The rejection of a point of view should always be the rejection of the arguments for that point of view while the acceptance of a point of view is the acceptance of the arguments for that point of view. This has been the principle of all those societies which have evolved from primitive to modern.

Pakhtuns can never progress and evolve to a higher level of scientific culture if they continue to believe in something just because their parents or ancestors used to believe in it. It is better to be a non believer with arguments than to be a believer without arguments.

Pakhtuns are broad minded,accommodating and freedom loving people by their very culture. They do not hate anyone due to one's religion ,race ,language , colour or creed. However they refuse to accept the authority of anyone who wants to impose his or her views on us without arguments and just by force.

The Intrinsic Contradictions of Pakistan

There is no debate on Pakistan, it is destined to become history as history will prove in the coming years.One should know that as Mohammad of Arabia once said very wisely, "Al-harbo Khidyatun" [War is the name of deception].So Pashtuns,Balochis and Sindhis should not get deceived by names and sweet words by the sympathisers of Pakistan. These sold outs are the killers of our children, women, youngsters and men and are the boot licker of military mainly constituted of North Punjabis.

The balkanisation of Pakistan is destined due to its intrinsic contradictions.

1) The country was claimed to have been created in the name of religion while neither Mohammad Ali Jinnah approved of this idea nor Iqbal.Both wanted separate provinces within the Indian confederacy.

2) Other than few sold outs among Pakhtuns, Sindhis, Mahajirs, Seraikis and Kashmiris who are the peons of Punjab [every nation has such black sheep and scum], the majority of these nations hate Pakistan's higher echelons of power represented by killers-for-hire Military, boot licking civil beuareocracy,Fuedal Punjabi class, pseudo intellectuals and biased media.

3) "India phobia" and "Islam mania" are the two tools which the elite class of Pakistan uses to exploit the wealth and resources of various nations living in Pakistan.

4) There is an ideological clash between the fundamentalists and the progressive minded Pakistanis which has made Pakistan a failed state. If Pakistan does not stick to its theocratic stance it loses its reason for existence and if it sticks to it then it goes by atleast one thousand years back in history.

Pakistan cannot make a choice as the so called two nation theory has also already been proved wrong with the creation of Bengal. The brave nation which got freedom from the shackles of Punjab - a precedent to be followed by the freedom fighters in Balochistan, Pakthunkhwa and Sindh.

5) The monster of Taliban which was created by ISI to destabilise Afghanistan and to have strategic depth against India has fired back and the drama which was fabricated by military has reached GHQ, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisal abad and Karachi after destroying Pakhtunkhwa initially.

6) Pakistan has become a synonym for terrorism, nuclear proliferation, fundamentalism, a military empire and a hell on earth for her inhabitants, after destabilising Afghanistan by its agencies. It has lost all justification for its existence in the eyes of its own people as well as international community.” Pakistan Zindabad" has now been replaced by "Pakistan say Zinda bhaag".

7) Pakistan is like a reactionary man with no genuine desires, aims and ambitions of its own. It equates herself to India and Israel. While the fact is there is no comparison whatsoever in the excellence achieved by these states despite being projected as enemies by Pakistani media. It is a matter of a decade and if India survived its north-south differences, it has all the potential to become the second super power after china. We see it with our own eyes here in the Middle East. The brain behind Aramco, Sabic, Adnoc, batleco, QP, Rasgas etc and construction industry is 90 percent Indian.

8) By presenting history in a distorted manner and using false lies about Pakhtuns, Baloch and Sindhis who are justified to fight for their freedom and liberty, as projected in Pakistan studies by Ahmed qureshi, I.H.Qureshi, Altaf Gohar etc and other writers who have no conscience, it is difficult to fool all people all the time.

Pashtun Freedom and Power Politics

Pakistan was a product of British far sighted polity to prevent Afghans and Indian becoming the next powerful nations who might challenge British hegemonious designs.Pakistan was carved out of Panjabi fear and the vested interests of Muslim elite class.That is why Muslim league was a party of Nawabs and had not much people from the middle class.

Pakistan is destined to get balkanised.Independent Balochistan and Pakhunistan will be carved out of it.The Pashtuns will ultimately abolish the Durand line ,like the Berlin wall and merge with their motherland Afghanistan.

In order to get independence , Power Politics will never be fruitful for Pakhtuns in Pakistan for the following reasons:

1) Power Politics needs majority which Pakhtuns will never attain in Pakistan

2) Power Politics has reduced to a business which if adopted by Pakhtuns leaders or parties will be catastrophic to the Pakhtun national cause of national freedom.

3) Power politics in the form of parliamentary politics is just a civilized form of grabbing the resources of other nations living in Pakistan by the civil, fuedal and military elite of Punjab.

4) The real problem of Pakistan can be solved by making constitutional amendments to give max authority to the nations over their historical lands and resources and their due share in power to run their affairs in the form of provincial autonomy.Pakistani elite will never let it happen.

5) History has proved that it is the technique of acting as a pressure group and struggling for freedom that a nation can achieve its rights to live a better life and this cannot be achieved via power politics.

Interpretations of Islam

Due to the existence of Politico-religeous parties in the Politics of Muslim countries, the interpretation of Islam has become a major, central and pivotal issue in Muslim scholasticism. While it was always there potentially even when Islam was limited to the Arab stock, it became significant when Islam was exported to the Non Arab or civilized world. Arabs, being the inhabitants of Arabian Peninsula, were the residents of deserts. The structure of their social fabric was missing the complications of Greek philosophy and oriental logic. Hence Muslim history saw major manifestations of difference in interpretation.

In contemporary world,all those parties like JUI,JI etc with religeous agendas based on the political interpreation of Islam, have to answer which interpreation would they opt for in order to run the business of a nation state.The following is a historic evolution of various interpretations in the muslim world in general and south asia in particular.

The Shia Interpretation:
Before Greek works were translated during the Abbasid dynasty, which encouraged knowledge and wisdom, the Arab history had already seen the battle of “Jaml” between the wife of the prophet and the son in law of the prophet, who was also the caliph at the time, as an ugly face of difference in interpretation. Even the killing of Usman - the third caliph was the due to the same reason. The genius of the Jews, who were the major rivals of Ishmaelites, saw the potential of theological interpretation as a tool to break the unity of the nascent community called Muslims. Thanks to Abdullah Ibn Saba, the Jew scholar, who transformed the difference between the wife of the Prophet and Ali into a school of thought and those who accepted his teachings based on his conspiratory interpretation , became the supporters of Ali and were called “Shiyaan-e-Ali”.Abdullah Ibn Saba also took advantage of the primitive nature of means of communication at that time and the vast Arab empire under Ali and started preaching about the divinity of Ali being an incarnation of God to those who did not have information about the new religion which was propagating. Hence the Shi'ite sect was founded on a cultist version of Islam.Shi’ism is the first visible consequence of difference of interpretation in Arab or Muslim history.

Mutazilite’s Interpretation:
After that the Arab history saw another major controversy over the issue of Quran being a creation of God popularly called the “Khalq - Quran - Controversy”. This was also an example of interpretation. It discussed about the nature of the word of God – the Quran. The rationalist’s school called Mutazilla’s maintained that Quran is just a creation of God and hence it does not have an origin which is infinite in time. While Malik, who is also the proponent of a jurist school in Islamic jurisprudence maintained that the word of God has no origin and it is an infinite (ancient) in time as God is. The logical consequence was that as the Word of God was in Arabic hence Arabic also turned out to be a language with infinite origin and hence sanctified.

The Sufi Interpretation:
The Arab history saw increasingly more controversies after the Greek philosophy was translated into Arabic. The supporter of Islamic and Arabs world had to face a lot of problems to interpret their point of view vis-a-vis the new world of knowledge and reason. The interpretation has political implications too. When ever the interpretations challenged the political hegemony of the Arab rulers they had to resort to the worst type of violence in the name of Islam. The scholars of Islam wanted to segregate themselves from these controversies as they were becoming increasing harmful for the masses of the Muslim masses. Hence they came up with an individualistic and mystical interpretation of Islam called Tasawuf or Sufi Islam. This interpretation produced renowned scholars and intellectuals of all times who propagated the non political interpretation of Islam aimed at the purification of mind and soul.Al-Ghazaali and Ibne- Arabi are two examples of intellectuals giants who reached the zenith of Sufi interpretation of Islam.

Indian Interpretation:
When Islam came to the land of the saints, myths and mind called India, enriched with music , poetry, arts, culture and saintly wisdom, Indian mind gave the highest intellectual interpretation to the city state oriented Arab cultural ideology revealed to mankind through prophet Muhammad. Indian interpretation not only gave an intellectual foundation to Islam as a philosophy of life and presented it as an explanation of existence and universe along with an integrated system of thought for the socio-politico-economic issues of humanity. The interpretation of Islam was formally performed by taking the bold initiative of translating the Quran into Persian – a step which had no precedence in Islamic history. The teaching s of the Quran were integrated into a logical network of ideas with rational explanation by Shah Waliullah in his “Hujjatullah al Baligha” which again was a pioneering step and birth of a new science which later became the foundation stone of modern Islamic scholasticism. Later on Shah Abdul Aziz, Syed Ahmed Khan, Obaidullah Sindhi, Hameedud din Farahi, Amin Ahsan Islahi and contributed their part.

On parallel lines Another Indian interpretation came into existence which emphasized more on the collective aspects of life with reference to modern science. Iqbal and Mawdudi, Ghulam Ahmed Pervez and Rafiuddin are those scholars who interpreted Islam as a philosophy of existence as well as a potential ideology capable of becoming the social order of a modern state. “The Reconstruction of religious thoughts in Islam” by Iqbal, “Al Jihad Fil Islam” of Mawdudi, “Islam a Challenge to religion” by Pervez and “Ideology of the Future” by Rafiuddin are the master pieces of collectivistic intepreation of Islam.

Western Interpretation:
With the advent of industrial revolution and the advancement of science and technology human knowledge has evolved. After centuries of dark ages when west woke up from the deep slumber of ignorance and went through the Renaissance and Reformation movements, they almost interpreted every aspect of life according the tenets of the modern science and technology. Religion was no exception. A critical study of history in the light of scientific evolution revealed the roots and causes of prevalent myths, ideas and creeds and notions and west discarded all those concepts which were not upto mark according to the benchmarks of modern science. The scholars of Islam also could not isolate themselves from the effects and advancement of modern science and were compelled to interpret Islam in terms of the modern concepts which emerged after the industrial revolution.Harun Yahya, Zakir Naik, Dr Israr, Javed Ghamdi and a host of other Muslim scholars are the ones who are aware of the modern concept of science and also cognizant of the facts discovered in sciences of sociology, economics, Politics and Philosophy of history etc

Role of Religious parties in the destruction of Pakhtunkhwa

Any body, who claims that the workers of the retrogressive fanatic organizations like Jummat Islami, Tanzeemi Islami, Tableeghi Jummat or Jamiat Ulema Islam (F or S factions) are innocent, as far as the terrorism in the Pakhtunland is concerned, is making a mistake.

Let us take the example of Jummat Islami (JI) itself. This party was established by Abul Ala Mawdudi, who started his struggle in Pathankot, India. Being a learned man from an educated religious family and with an exposure to journalism coupled with very strong writing skills, he wrote “Al-Jihad fil Islam” which is his renowned book. In this book he presented Islam as a revolutionary utopian ideology and invited the Muslims of India to establish an Islamic government.

He then established Jumaat Islami and won the sympathies of intelligentsia from across the subcontinent. He opposed the creation of Pakistan but with a view point, different from that of Husain Ahmed Madani and the Nationalists. However he migrated to Lahore after the partition. Later his party participated in the power politics and became a part and parcel of the Pakistani system and made all those compromises which Abul Ala Mawdudi condemned before the partition.

The post partition history of JI is full of compromises and backing the dictators in a dream to make Pakistan a theocratic state. But the philosophy of history, despite the justification of imperialism by scholars like Mawdudi, works on some other principles. Pakistan, which was claimed to be created as an ideological state, could not survive due to its weak foundations, as predicted by Abul Kalam Azad.

The national struggle of Bengalis against the oppression and exploitation of Punjabi military succeeded with the creation of Bengla Desh after the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Bengalis by the Punjabi army in the early seventies.

JI then supported Chowdry Zia ul Haq after falling prey to his trap of Islamisation which was a means to legitimize his illegitimate regime. In that age JI was the right hand of Pakistani army for the destruction of Afghanistan with the help of ISI and CIA.JI worked as the ideological wing of ISI and prepared a lot of Pakhtuns to fight in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, JI has been involved in sending so called Mujahidin to Kashmir to justify illegitimate occupation of "Pakistan occupied Kashmir" and pressurise India. The terrorist organization which we see today, were all created by ISI in collaboration with JI.

The JI was also actively involved,along with JUI, in supporting Taliban in Afghanistan to destabilise it and hence acting as the ideological wing for the preparation of terrorists in addition to the military facilitation ,state security and backing by Pakistan army and its intelligence agencies.

In short, JI has been involved in all those initiatives and adventures which were aimed at destroying and devastating the land of Afghans across the Durand line.

We have so many movements in Pakistan and the center of all these movements is Punjab as making people passively religious helps Punjab to maintain its domination and illegal control of resources in Pakistan.

Tableeghi Jumaat movement is one such movement, for example. It is specialized in depoliticizing the masses against the atrocities of the state. The main target is Pakhtun areas, provinces and population. It is a nursery and a breeding ground for extremism and terrorism. Once the Tableeghi Jumaat depoliticises its member and makes them passive then these stereotype members can easily fall prey to any extremist or terrorist organization.

Raiwind in Punjab is the center of this mass stereotyping movement. It is controlled by the high up in the military of Pakistan to use it as religious means for legalising their illegal occupation over the resources of the oppressed nations in Pakistan. It is for this reason that Nawaz Sharif is one of the patrons of Tableeghi movement and is himself based in Raiwind

AVT Khyber - Price of the Proud?

Pakistani establishment has always been interested in indoctrinating Pakhtuns with their venomous anti-Pakhtun propaganda aimed at dividing and depoliticising them. AVT Khyber Channel channel was initiated to Pakistanise Pakhtuns by indoctrinating a false sense of territorial nationhood in them. The reason was that Pakhtuns used to listen to the credible news of BBC instead of the ISPR-type propaganda news. AVT Khyber seems to be an endevour to give alternative source of information to the Pashtun audience in order to justify the enslaved status and second rate citzienship of Pakhtuns in Pakistan.

The following is a list of observations which stunned me and paralysed by reflexes for a while by their anti-Pakhtun content.

1) The News in Urdu are in a clear font while that in Pashto are in a very non intelligible font giving a strong impression of being incredible news.

2) The overall theme of the news and programs is Non-Pashto oriented while majority of the programs gives an impression of Urdu, Hindko, Seraiki, Koshitani etc languages. For example "Janob nama" shows as if seraiki is the dominant language there and Pakhtuns are just living as a peaceful minority.

3) A program called "Khushbo-e- Gandhara" which was about the nucleus of Pakhtun areas like Charsadda, Mardan and Swab depict a biased piccture of their history. There are other programs like "Baab-e-Khyber" , "Dil Pishori" ,"Da Qissa khwani gup" ,"Janob Nama" etc which give the same impression. If Pakhtuns have respect for all languages and cultures does it mean that they leave their own language and start adopting and adoring other cultures and languages? Why on earth would then AVT Khyber claim to be the First "Pashto" Channel?

I press upon the team of the Avt Khyber either not to claim being the sole representative of Pakhtun culture and language or atleast be honest and stop claiming it if they are aiming at Pakistanising Pakhtuns , a dream which has no intrinsic germs of getting realised. Pakhtun audience should retaliate against any step aimed at negatively projecting the image of their culture, land and history.

There are some programs which are highly appreciable like Khyberwatch, Khabara da Kitab, Maraka, the Program of Dr Hashmat, the program of interviews from Quetta, Morning transmisison program conducted by Jamshed Ali Khan.

The news are mostly out of date and of least interest to Pakhtuns with a very irritating music in the background contrary to that of other Pakistani TV Channels. We look forward that AVT Khyber will pay a serious heed to the points and keep its uniqueness to be the first Pashto channel.

I condemn the policy of Islamabad not to give lincenses to any other private TV channel to start its transmission in Pashto seeing that others channel owners will counter their propaganda. The enterprenuers should raise a voice against the autocratic policies of PEMRA and other such authorities in Pakistan.

It is a shame that ANP could not commence a channel of their own to project and promote Pashtun cutlure like Shamshad and Lemar which are state-of-the-art Afghan TV channels transmitting quality programs.This could have helped in countering Pakistani propaganda against Pakhtuns.

Political use of Religion in Af-Pak history

The writings of most religious writers are a source of extremist and intolerant behaviour in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The religious writers who are pro-Sayyed-Mawdudi, pro-Sayyed-Qutub,Pro-Aljama,Pro-Hizb ul Tahrir etc are infact Arab nationalist thinkers presenting naive utopian analysis to the masses of other nations .The writings of such Muslim writers are master pieces to those Pashtuns and Afghans who see the solution of their ills in the concept of Jihad and pan Islamism without knowing the pre-requisites of Jihad and the practicality of pan-Islamist ideas.

The Af-Pak puzzle is challenging but not impossible to resolve if we know the laws of cultural engineering and keep in view the historic perspective of both the countries. In case of Afghans and Pashtuns ,it is the time in history where they need to change their direction to national goals and targets in consonance with the laws of history and strive for freedom indigenously both in Pakistan and Afghanistan instead of becoming a cannon fodder for the imperialist designs of Arabs, Punjabis or any other alien force.

Pakhtuns are among those nations who have suffered the most due to the pan-islamist utopian ideas. When Russians came to Afghanistan ,the Punjabi-dominated Pakistani military and their stereotypes encouraged Afghans and Pashtuns to fight against them while accumulated all the dollars for their own economic benefit by offering the sacrifice of "Brave and Islam loving " Afghans at the altar of Pakistani national interests. The same Pakistani military is now using Pashtuns and Afghans against American and ISAF forces in Afghanistan in the name of Taliban. In the future Pashtuns might be used against China which is the next bear to be trapped with the help of Pakistan in the great game.

In the Afghan war, General Zia played with the emotions of Pakistanis in general and those of Pashtuns, Afghans and Arabs in particular. He used Americans to get the dollars to transform the bipolar world into a unipolar, he used Punjabis to legitimise and prolong his regime by claiming to secure Pakistan (and hence Punjabi imperialism), he used the religiosity of Pakistani Pashtuns and used the bravery and resilient nature of Afghans to defeat the Russians. He used media to project Russians as infidels and atheists instead of anti imperialists. Hence it was Pakistani military in the form of General Zia who exploited religion for his own ulterior motives to prolong military dictatorship.

Pashtuns and Afghans should only think about their national interest and talk to international powers on egalitarian basis due to their geo strategic position in central and south Asia. This status of Afghans is an advantage wrongly projected as a disadvantage for the Afghan nation by Pakistani establishment.

The objective of foreign presence in Afghanistan is well defined, it is the modus operandi which needs a change. The dismantling of Al-Qaida and Taliban network is a noble cause contrary to the one defined by US for Iraq. The USA and ISAF are being projected as usurpers, invaders and imperialists instead of liberators and rehabilitators of the war struck Afghan masses, by the biased Pakistani media, military and secret agencies.

Pakistan uses the misguiding propaganda and disinformation for the justification of the war against the US troops. The result of this propaganda is the destruction and devastation of Afghanistan, failure of int'l community to stabilise Afghanistan and the role of Afghanistan to be the Chess board of local, regional and int'l players. All this culminates into the strengthening of religious fundamentalist movements for the revival of Arab domination over the world and waging a Jihad against all those who refuse to be dominated by them.

The US should hit the source of all this Jihad, Terrorism, Infiltration and instability and should pressurise GHQ in Rawalpindi and all those elements in Pakistan who were and are responsible for using Afghans for their own imperialist and malicious designs.

The US should play its positive role for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan and should pressurise the Pakistani military to stop aiding and supporting all those elements that are responsible for the devastation of Pakhtun land across the Durand line.

I believe that the US objective is right but the methodology is fallacious if not wrong. The dimensions of fallacy being lack of military wisdom, unwise use of drone technology, misappropriated funding technique. Any effort for the ethnic divide, tensions, differences and discrimination are not going to uproot the nurseries of terrorism from Afghanistan or Pakistan because the cause is somewhere else.

The cause of the problem is situated on Moll Road of Rawalpindi not in the caves of Tora Burra.The religious clergy who now own plazas and markets in Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi and elsewhere use to beg for their dinner meals till they were made lords by the army generals of Pakistan. The cause of the problem is petro-dollar not drug-kaldaar.The wahabis who have been bribed by the monarchy of Saudi Arabia would like to enslave the whole world to increase the number of their wives in this world too in addition to the fixed number in their dreams.

The only way for US to solve the problem and to prevent Afghanistan becoming another Vietnam is to support the merger of Pashtuns on both sides of the Durand line. Afghans by their nature are progressive minded people, they have been indoctrinated by the Pakistani agencies and their stooges in order to defend their banana republic from India. The Pashtuns due to lack of political awareness and literacy are being used for all so called ideological wars to strengthen the extremist-terrorist-sectarian Punjabi paradise called Pakistan.

Politico-economic prosperity remains a dream unless a nation has strong defence. Afghanistan needs peace and its neighbours do not want it. The active anti-peace neighbour Pakistan is already facing the music herself for destroying the peace of Afghanistan and the other anti Afghan forces are in row.

Once the infiltration of terrorists into Afghanistan by Pakistan is prevented, Afghans would come up with even much better suggestions, proposals and solutions. The infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and secret agencies is the major cause of terrorism in Afghanistan. If this cause is not addressed then US and world community would keep on building Afghanistan and ISI backed clergy and terrorists, Taliban and Al-Qaida would continue destroying it.

Pukhtun Miseries - Analysis

Two observations are worth noting:

1) In general, where ever you see backwardness, irrational behaviour and uselessness you will find religion there too unfortunately.

2) The moment a nation become useless it starts loosing power and consequently instead of fighting for their rights they start lamenting , crying , mourning ,disowning their failures and neglecting their limitations and faults consequently falling prey to the more useful and hence powerful nation.

The Pakhtun nation, is a perfect example of this bitter reality.

We are the most religious people on earth hence nearly the most backward people too forming the largest tribal society in the comity of nation in the 21st century.Interestingly despite that we are ultra religious we have not produced even religious scholars or leaders as compared to those nations who either have been our subjects in the history or are much weaker a race than us.Pakhtuns are mostly deobandi (Qasim Nanotwai/Mahmudul hasan-India) Sunnis or Salafi (Abdul Wahab-Najdi) or Tableeghi (Ilyas-Indian) or Shias (Iranian) or followers of Maududi's JI (Pathankot - India) or Dr Israr's TI (Hisar -Indian Punjab) and so on. If religion can be of any material benefit then we Pakhtuns have made sure not even to think about it and we have made it a point to plunge into the most fruitless and futile ventures of religion like Jihad etc.

Secondly we have not contributed sufficiently to the repository of history. Our contributions are necessarily there but they are not sufficient to win us a respectable rapport while being in a majority or a distinguished status while being in minority.

Yes we can wish for a separate homeland, or a developed and stable Afghanistan or having world leaders ,scientists ,lawyers, writers and intellectuals etc in the world but that need tremendous efforts. These efforts are nothing new. Every nation has gone through the same course of history.

We are nothing demographically as compared to Chinese - an ex-opium addicted nation but still due to their hardwork they are a candidate for the next super power. We have not been nuclearly bombed (though carpet bombed) like Japanese but still Japan is considered an idustrialised and first world country.So many other examples can be quoted.

Having said that we should acknowledge that we have a glorious history but a dark present. However we still have a lot of plus points contrary to other nations to achieve our collective future goals if we want.Hence in conclusion we need to take critical decisions on national / collective level as follows:

1) We need to get rid of religious obsession and get into more and more scientific approach about life and universe. I would suggest that everyone should get self education regarding what science says about life, universe, society etc.

2) We need to aim at excellence in our fields. What we Pakhtuns lament about is nothing other than the result of our collective efforts. This is the lesson of history we need to learn.

Eid has to be won

Unless and untill we Pakhtuns and other oppressed nations in Pakistan recognise our real enemies, each EID will bring us mourning over death and destruction of our people and land respectively.

The series of bombs which is terorising the Pakhtunland are from Taliban and Paki agencies both of which do not want any stability and continuitiy of poltical process in the Pakhtunland as they have been rejected by the masses of the opressed nations like Pakhtuns ,Sindhis,Seraikis,Mahajirs and Balochis.

Now-a-days the military and civil establishmet is defaming the politicians and creating a havoc and chaos in the country to pave the way for the autucratic rule.

You will see the moment Punjabi dominated parties come into power ,the civil and military establishment will start cooperating with them and all this destruction and bombing in the Pakhtun land will stop and decrease drastically.

We need to fight our enemy politically.We need to say NO to the colonisation of Punjab dominated forces and and civil institutions which is a source of power for the elite class while sacrificing the lives of the poor and innocent Pakhtuns,Balochis ,Sindhis ,Seraikis and Mahajirs.

It is when we win freedom then we deserve to say "Akhter da Mubarak sha" to each other as Eid has to be won.It is foolish to greet each other when our kith and kins are being killed by Pakistani establishment.

Swat Operation - Lessons to be learnt

Swat was a paradise on earth before its merger with Pakistan. The seeds of hell were sown in its soil when the Pakistani agencies started using Sufi Mohammad as their puppet to ask for the restoration of an obsolete legal system which was promulgated for the city state of medina considering the Arab Bedouin culture into considerations. Major Amir - an ISI stooge was used to back up Sufi Muhammad to use the Poor Pakhtuns of Malakand first in the early nineties which resulted in a very chaotic situation. The reason was the instability of the democratically elected govt by the criminal secret agencies of Pakistan.

The same stereotype was used the second time too to backup a military backed Mulla Fazullah, who exploited the religious sentiments of the Swatis as army after its sinking graph during the Musharraf regime sensed that they needed to show some drama to the public of Pakistan to restore their rapport. They used him and now after the restoration of peace they are again projected to be the Messiah of the nation and are ready to take the reigns of power which is their second target for which they will have to prove the failure of the democratically elected govt of PPP, ANP, MQM etc.One after another crises will be created by the establishment and bureaucracy till the situation become so chaotic that the take over of army can be justified.

Pakhtuns should realise that their life due to lack of political struggle for their rights and autonomy can be easily used for any drama to the international community and hence they will be killed and their killing will e justified by blaming them either as cessationists in the past, fundamentalists in the near past and Taliban in the present. It is the lack of political consciousness and lack of political goal which has necessitated the genocide of Pakhtuns and until they realise the gravity of situation and rise against any intervention of army, it agencies, the religious clergy and exploitation of resources by the civil and military resources by Punjab, they are destined to suffer.

The Swat operation however is a blessing in disguise. It has helped to prove the following bitter realities to Pakhtuns:

1) That it is wrong to support representative of clergy due to the unjustified sanctity of that institution in Pakhtun society.

2) That the tighter the grip of religion the more miserable will be the life of people.

3) That military always use the common man and innocent people as guinea pigs for their nefarious designs.

4) That unless the nation is conscious about its political rights in the country it is destined to suffer.

5) That at the end of the day, it was the Pakhtuns culture which realised the sanctity of Pakhnwali by supporting and helping the IDPs.

6) That they have to support nationalist elements vis a vis religious bigots in any political situation and crises.

7) That the power elite will spare no chance to grab more influence in Pakhtun land and use its resources human, natural and economic to their advantage even at the cost of innocent lives of Pakhtuns.

It is therefore suggested that Pakhtuns should take a stand against all those elements which inculcate the seeds of religious indoctrination in Pakhtuns and also know that the civil and military beaureocratic establishment of Punjab is their real enemy.

Who is behind Terrorist Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa???

The terrorist attacks in Pakhtunkhwa is a part of sowing the seeds of instability in Pakhtun land by the power hungry elite class of Pakistan - the Punjabi or pro Punjabi civil and military beaureocracy.

This military and civil power elite is behind all efforts to destabilise the current govt of PPP ,ANP and MQM.

My analysis is that:

1) The Punjabi elite class will use this excuse to take the reigns of power. So we may expect another martial law.

2) All the so called crises be it Flour crises, sugarcane crises, or power crises or any other crises after the Feb 2008 elections, were artificially manufactured by them.

3) This elite had planned the current situation carefully to discredit the political process as well as the political leadership and parties so that they could take the reigns of power.

4) The instability is multi faceted. It is the breakup of peace in Pakhtunkhwa as ANP came into power with that slogan, it is the suffering of poor due to price hike as PPP came into power using the slogan of relief to the poor, it is directed towards the projection of Nawaz Sharif as he represents Punjab and was a product of military.

5) The instability is aimed at blaming Taliban most of whom are the puppets of army and ISI .

6) The instability is aimed at blaming the anti system/state faction of Taliban who could be a threat to the Pakistani state.

7) The military and its agencies after projecting Taliban, who no doubt have been responsible for the unrest in Pakhtunkhwa, put the blame of every terrorist attack on them while they themselves plan and execute these satanic activities.

8) The media most of which is anti Pakhtun has made Taliban synonymous with Pakhtuns so that any struggle by them can be easily labelled as anti state and gives the military a justification for crushing their struggle for freedom and emancipation.

9) Last but not least, it is least known that Pakistan army and Taliban are both puppets of the Pentagon and that is why US is always afraid of popular movements and uprisings while they prefer to deal with their agent-in-uniform as it is easy to buy the loyalties of one man than to buy that of dozens of political leaders.

10) The US is controlling the Pakistani military and the military is controlling the Pakistani politicians who in turn are mesmerising the masses. It is a rebellious spirit who has the balls and brains to say no to this hierarchy who can in reality prevent Pakhtuns of Pakhtunkhwa from the inevitable disaster to which they are proceeding slowly but surely due to being a citizen of Pakistan.

It is therefore concluded that Pakhtuns need to identify a genuine leader who could help Pakhtuns and other oppressed and poor people of Pakistan. He should be a person/party which has had anti establishment stance and had never compromised on it in the past. Any other leader or party though might seem to be good for Pakhtuns and they might have sincere followers too, are not indeed on the way which leads to the emancipation of Pakhtuns and other poor people.

Terrorism in the Pashtun Land - Analysis

This is how I analyse the current catastrophic situation created by Pakistani Establishment and US Power Elite.

1) What is going on in Pakhtunkhwa is a part of the US strategy to destabilise the northern belt touching China - the future target of American imperial hegemony.

2) Pakistan being a friend of China and having nuclear teeth is a heel of Achilles for the US.

3) The trade route of China through Pakistan to the hot waters via Gwadar has to be blocked and make China starve for Oil.

4) In order to control Pakistan, the ideal situation is that it should be in the hands of army as it is easy to handle a Pakistani general than to invest in buying the loyalties of hundreds of politicians.

5) The recent events especially the Lawyer's movement and criticism of military by pro democracy politicians , nationalists , intellectual efforts like Ayesha Siddiqa's Military Inc and Media exposed the criminal role of Pakistan army and military institutions.

6) It was difficult for the army to regain the reigns of power back in Pakistan; hence something had to be done in order to achieve that.

7) The army and US which have the relationship of slave and master, had to plan the Swat operation.

8) Puppets like TTP and others were projected to world media while they were the military people who were aided by the US and Pakistan army to take control of the Pakhtunland in the garb of religion. Some thousand primitive mullas neither have the balls nor the brains to launch such an organised operation without the aid and master plan of Pentagon through Pakistan army.

9) These Taliban criminals who were all US backed Pakistan army criminals were encouraged to terrorise people and take control of the Pakhtunland.

10) Media projected them as a threat to the integrity and nuclear capability of Pakistan and the terrorist activities which were done by them with the help of Pakistan military and backed by US dollars made the people hate them hence indirectly creating a soft corner for the army.

11) As a result of increased "successful" operations by army and increasing the terrorist activities by the US- financed-army-backed Taliban, the situation is made more and more grave day by day. It will helpin the presence of US Black water to take care of the nuclear assets ,which has become a liability for Pakistan,will be justified soon.

12) The logical consequence of this well organised and well planned effort is paving the way for the military rule. The glorification of army on media is a part of this plan.

13) Once army is in power, which is most probable in the very near future, the US will have defacto power to work on its agenda.

14) The next step will be to contain and block China. US might change the geographical boundaries of the area and start supporting Azad Baluchistan to take care of Gwadar.
